On Monday night (August 4th), Disney XD had a sneak peek of the first seven minutes of Star Wars Rebels. This preview of the new animated Star Wars series aired immediately after the Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars special on Disney XD.
Synopsis: Star Wars Rebels continues the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures.   It is a dark time in the galaxy, as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power from world to world.  As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, ruling with an iron fist and ruining the lives of its people.  The clever and motley crew of the starship Ghost is amongst a select few who are brave enough to stand against the Empire. Together, this ragtag group will face threatening new villains, encounter colorful adversaries, embark on thrilling adventures and become heroes with the power to ignite a rebellion.
Scheduled to premiere this October as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel, it will be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world.

I saw the Phineas & Ferb Star Wars special last week, it was pretty cool.  It takes place during Episode IV, basically the story sort of runs parallel to the events in Ep IV.

Will definitely give this a look today.  I think Kickin It is also Star Wars themed tonight.

Too bad this guys die in the end, that's the problem with prequels, you know this guys won't make it since they are not even mentioned in the movies. I just hope Vader makes an appearance from time to time.

I downloaded the Phineas and Ferb and it was quite funny (we don't have it available in Canada yet)

When I was in the US last week, I saw previews of this Star Wars night on Disney XD. This is what Disney intended on doing with the purchase of Marvel and Lucasfilm. They could use them as references on their shows and movies without paying license fees.

This is what you get with the Disney deal. Live with it.

Thanks to this deal, we get to see Han, Luke, Chewie and Leia again.

Oh, come on... this looks cool and the animation and style of the original movies is great. Ya'll are a bunch of whiners!

I thought it looked o.k, the hair though that one lego like plasic blobish could've been better but over all I thought it was o.k..

Horcruxx, we don't know they die.  Just because they are not mentioned means nothing.  Know clue why you think that.  There are billions upon billions of people/huminoids in teh star wars universe that weren't mentioned, does that mean they all died.

I like the fact that despite the use of blasters and grenades on a kids-friendly show, they do not shun away from showing people dying. That is a lot of dead stormtroopers in 7 minutes. What I like less is the stereotypical introduction to the 'wicked tax raising Empire'.
