Update: Director Rumor Debunked for 28 MONTHS LATER - Oct 08, 2008 - 07:34am
28 Weeks stumps on wheher I like it or not. I feel I have to recommend it on those first two acts. The opeing sequrence as stated were some of the mostb tense and frihghtening minutes of any horror mo ever made. But beyond that the whole story arc with TRobert Carlyles character was brilliant and brilliantly played. That final scene between him and his wife was jarring. I was justleft withmy jaw hanging open, and then it was like the good and we're in a different movie. It's just hard to believe that sam writers and director who were makig such brilliant descisons up til that point would suddeny start making such obivious and lazy decision after that. the movie just brecame predicatble it was as if th director sat down beside me at the theater held my and started sayng "okay this is whose going to die this who isn't and this order they'l go in. I'm telling you now 'cause I don't want you to be scared later." I thinkwhat shopuld have happenefd was that the film continue in a serie of filom sorts se the 28 Dayys world ala Animatrix and I this this director could hae one that brilliantly and we would've had a film for the ages. Alternatively, theyt should have gotten rid of the soldier guy whose was protecting them and replace him Perinneau's character who didn't think they should be protected in the first place and now would blame them for his friend's death, but would feel compelled to protect them because they are kids, and it'ds what his friend would want. The he'd be constantly reevaluatinbg whether having them around especially having a potential carrier aroun was still woryth the risk or would killing them reaklly be the right thing to do. That qwould have put some great trension in some otherwise just running and hiding scenes.

SANCTUARY: Sanctuary for All - Oct 04, 2008 - 11:17am
I thought it was great. Tapping was fantastic as Helen Magnus. I always liked Samantha Carter but thought she was written a little stiff. She seems to have more to work with in this character ad she rewally shines here. I like the forenassic psychologist guy and that they gave him some skills instead of just making him the resident newbe giving audience perspective. Love the back stories especially Helen's. The compulsion to kill apparently being physioological in her ex raises some interesting future possibilities for the daughter. Love the mother/ daughter relationship and love the father/ ex character even more. Hope we see him again and I do gree the resoluton to his plot seemed a little too easy but that tends to happen with pilots, when they focus so much on getting the lead characters and their backstories together they tend to be left with too little screen time to do more than a quickie resolution. That they pent the time o the characters at this stage bodes well for the future. And his haste can be legitimnately written off as the desperation of his predicament at that moment, leaving it open for him to be a much more intelligrent villain in the future. Loved the visual style too, I think this will be a very interesting seris I look forward to what they'll do next. BTW She's blond in the flash backs but dark haired in the present time of the series.
