McG Reveals Info on TERMINATOR

Is Josh Brolin the new terminator in the upcoming Terminator Salvation trilogy? Perhaps so if we pick up on the hints provided by director McG below. In an interview with The Two-One Three, the director answered questions on whether Connor (Christian Bale) has a large role, status of script, and hinted at who might be playing the next terminator model if he gets his way...

Script update:

"We're prepping the picture right now. The script is largely done, whether or not we're able to prep off of it, obviously we want to continue to work on it, punch it up and we're hoping for an expedient finish to the writer's strike. But I've got my fingers crossed that in a week or two it will be over," McG said.

The Timeline:

"Post Judgment day. So there really is no continuation, you know what I mean? Its sort of a different animal, whereas the first two pictures on this thing are Terminators from the future, this picture takes place in 2019."

Denial of reports of Bale having a limited role:

"John Connor's a major player in it - Christian Bale's playing that part."

Who's playing the next Terminator model?

"...And there's guys out there like Russell Crowe and Eric Bana, bring a good physicality, they do what they do, but I don't know if they're exactly right at the end of the day. (Smiles) Josh Brolin is a very exciting actor - we'll see."

The first installment, Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, will hit theaters Summer 2009.

Josh Brolin?? Josh BROLIN??? Is that a joke? I'm not saying he's a bad actor at all, but he's not cut out to play a Terminator. Bana could make for a good Terminator, but really any actor could fill in since the role doesn't really require much in terms of dialogue or acting ability.

The pic above is NOT a very intimidating one, but I looked at some other pics of him and he might have the right look. not really on the physique side though. Although Robert Patrick wasn't bulky. It's just that when I think 'terminator', I get a mental picture of AS.

Ok, well Josh Brolin could work. He's got big shoes to fill IMHO (Arnold and Robert) though.

Russell Crowe as a Terminator? YUCK. 'Hasta la vista, mate'

Eric Bana, maybe. I could see that. Would rather not though. lol

If AICN is correct that there's another major human player besides John Connor, I'd say give Josh Brolin that role. He plays a mean badass, but I don't see him as a terminator.

Doing a terminator besides Arnold is tricky (part of why I haven't clicked with the Sarah Connor Chronicles -- not so much Summer Glau but the Ahnuld wannabes.) Why not have Robert Patrick do the T-1000? No ones going to replace Arnold. They need to go a different route.

Seriously, though, I'd be happy if we just saw some badass metal terminators like in T2.

I thought this movie would only have the metal terminators in it. Please dont tell me the focus of this new trilogy is running.

I am hoping for a movie that has the heroes rise up and bring the fight to the villans. Something you rarely see.

Is it just me or does Josh Brolin look like an older Josh Hartnett in that pic?? I thought the same thing when I saw the GrindHouse-Planet Terror trailer for the first time. Either way, I agree that he doesn't come to mind as intimidating or as Terminator.

Don't worry peeps. Ronald McG is well on his way to screwing this movie up. I can't wait for the Charlies angels scenes to pop up. Christin Bale on wires kicking 20 T-100s at once! Man, what a shot that will be!

Still cant believe he's the older brother from the Goonies that is tappin' the ass of Diane Lane.

Hmmm... This guy as a Terminator?

They should strongly consider pursuing his co-star from "No Country for Old Men" - Javier Bardem..

This guy basically already nailed the Terminator role with NCFOM...

Arnold had a foreigner accent as well and this guy just looks the part! Minus the bowl haircut of course.

The casting of any actor depends on what's in the script, it might call for a shabby guy who looks like an older Josh Hartnett. Personally I think that would suck but I guess it's up to McG. I think that big guy from X-men who played Collossas would make a decent terminator, that guy was jacked

yea cause Robert Patrick is one intimidating man?
If that guy can be a Terminator most certainly this guy can.
