McG Up For TERMINATOR 4?

While this shouldn't be regarded as fact yet, CHUD is reporting that director McG is among the top list of contenders to director TERMINATOR 4. Devin has relayed that this comes from a reliable source that has never did him wrong, it would be quite a feat for McG since he is currently attached to numerous other projects for the near future. As we reported last week, the Halcyon Company wants this next installment filmed before the impending strike in June 2008. If this is still the case from the C2 team, then McG would have to drop his other projects and begin working on this very soon. They announced this film would begin production this month...

So what other projects is he working on?

Me and My Monster (2009): A young boy has a friendship with an extraordinary creature that changes the course of his life as he becomes an adult.

Untitled Matt Cirulnick/McG Project (2009)

Maintenance:  Based on the comic of the same name.

Nightcrawlers: Action based comedy about a neurotic father who must face childhood monsters.

Yucatan: Centers around hunters in the Yucatan peninsula. This story concept was originally made by the late great Steve McQueen who had storyboards and left notes on the project. McQueen's son Chad and godson Lance Sloan are producing the flick.

Untitled McG Project for Warner Bros: The third movie is an untitled spy drama/thriller.

Please, not the talentless McG. Bring back Jonathan Mostow

Hell, no!!! McG must be benefiting from nepotism, because Charlie's Angels and its sequel should have ended his career!!! And although I got a kick out of the second episode of Chuck...McG's name will foever be associated with the incompetence which is the Charlie's Angels films.

Narpin, I have to agree, bring back Mostow, as we know he can deliver a good James Cameron imitation.

Metal...I do and have agreed with most of your posts in the past but it seems that lately I have not, thats not to say that I don't disagree with you now but if you think about it Uwe Boll career should have ended after the house of the dead but for some reason he keeps getting work, I guess it's who you know and how much money they have to back your projects, who knows but McG has made his money back on his projects and I guess that is a plus in some way as far as the studios are concerned...I think they need to find someone else to direct this movie because there is an awsome story to be told of the war between the robots and humans...

Honestly though, McG is not a good director. The only quality thing that McG has done up this date is produce Supernatural. That show is badass. His movies on the other hand are seriously lacking. I don`t know maybe he has worked on his craft and he is a better director, but while his skills might improve, his vision still sort of sucks. Directors don`t really change in that way. They can only get technically better.
Maybe I am wrong, but I hope he doesn`t get T4.

Jesus,,, don't see what the big deal is...the guy has done like 3 movies. Give him a chance. The first Charlie's Angels was a lot fo fun. The second was too much and We Are Marshel was actually a very good movie. I think he is a good choice, he can do action and drama. Remember Alien 3 anyone? Finchers first moive. Or Phirrina 2: The Spawning, James Cameron's first movie. I think McG has a better staring record than those two movies, and Fincher and Cameron went on to become amazing directors.....give the benifet of the doubt.

based on charlies angels alone, this guy directing would be enough for me not to waste money watching this...and i like the T movies. this guy is terrible.

You can`t compare directors first forays into movies, with the likes of Charlie`s Angels. That was a big budget flick. Piranha 2 was a low budget b-movie. McG does neither good action or drama. We Are Marshall was a decent flick. I`ll give him that, but I tend to throw Mcg in with guys like Brett Ratner, Rob Cohen, and to a lesser extent Sommers. They can put people in the seats, but have no soul as directors. Studios love them, but they can`t tell a good story.
Maybe he`ll prove me wrong.

Great. T4 will be a two hour series of music videos. I hated the Charlies Angels movies, and even a talentless hack like Uwe Boll could have made a decent movie out of We Are Marshall; it was a great, cliched sports story. McG isn't much of a director and I have very little hope that he'll deliver a good Terminator movie.

Well, let me go against the tide and say I thoroughly enjoyed both Charlie's Angels movies.

Now I'm not saying McGee is a great director, but those films had a style to be made in and if you didn't like them it might be as much or more about the style than who did them.

I wouldn't even watch We Are Marshall, but that's because I refuse to pay money for anything that remotely deals with sports, let alone supporting high school sports. But that doesn't make McGee a good or bad director.

I think Ratner does fine with the Rush Hour flicks, but was horribly wrongly put in charge of X3. I don't think the travesty that was X3 makes Ratner a bad director - just someone who shouldn't touch super-hero films.

Merin We are Marshall is about a college sports team not High school. I have to agree with you guys that McG while he may have some talent is not right for T4. Maybe other things, but not T4. I would like to also go on record as saying that unless this film is done well, it will end up being a scifi orignial movie just like Highlander the Source. One other thing is McG related to or married to someone famous? I think he is, but I forget who.
