McG Updates Blog Again for TERMINATOR

Problem is the ending is set with the humans winning taking out Skynet which prompts the Terminator being sent back in the first place. Anything else and it's crap.

This is why I love when directors and producers do this sort of thing. When they know they are working on a project with a big fanbase, it is at its simplest great PR and and its most a wonderful way to bond with the lovers of your film to provide regular updates. It almost looks like he was reading the previous Mania posts.

McG, if you're out there, I originally had my trepidations on doing a new Terminator trilogy run by new producers and a new director. At first it struck me like those recent remakes of 80's horror movies. They were producers trading on the name of some classic just tio make a cheap "re-boot" in order to make quick money. But as I've read more on this new Terminator, I can see the passion and enthusiasm of what you believe to be a great idea that you want to bring to the screen. I'm pulling for you guys! Can't wait to see what you've got in store.

Well I feel better now that he's putting the movie itself ahead of the rating.
There was a crazy rumor going around about J.Connor, but I guess that with all the secrecy he won't confirm or deny anything.
Looking forward to seeing their version of the Matrix world and all the different robots.
I don't care if they change the ending,which I bet they will, as long as it makes sense and satisfies. HELL THEY KEEP CHANGING THE TIMELINES AND EVERYTHING ELSE, ESPECIALLY WITH THE T.V. SHOW SO WHY NOT. OOPS, CAPS.

LOL well alot more people are about to know the ending McChicken if the below spoiler is correct. You have killed one of my favorite franchises so I won't be surprised if the below is correct. Man after reading this spoiler James Cameron has got to be rolling over in his grave...oh yeah he isn't dead yet at least not until after he watches this film.

MAJOR SPOILERS

The original AICN report says that the character of Marcus (Sam Worthington) was a criminal who was executed in 2003 and donated his body to Project Angel which was involved with SkyNet. They use his body and make a Terminator out of him.

It goes on to say that at the end of the movie John Connor (Christian Bale) is fighting a T800 model 101, loses and dies. The fellow leaders of the resistance feel it's important to keep the image or idea that John Connor is still alive so they rip off Marcus' skin and put John Connor's on the skeleton so now Marcus is John Connor.

CHUD added these comments - " I can't confirm that last part completely, but it gibes with everything I have heard from multiple sources. I wasn't sure if that aspect was changing after the writer's strike - Connor's role has been beefed up considerably since I first got my information - but assuming that Moriarty's source is talking about the latest drafts (and be aware that he could be talking about the same drafts I was talking about six or seven months ago, which may be very outdated at this point), this spoiler is right on the money."

Never really had a big problem with him. The first Angels was good. Not so much the second. Ain’t seen Marshal but I enjoyed the Chuck pilot. Did seem an odd choice for something so sci-fi heavy but after this I feel a lot better. Seems like a smart guy who definitely respects the source material and is clearly paying attention to what the fan boys are saying. monkeyfoot I’m with you on that. It’s great that he’s interacting with us and is even telling us to get over the name.

Plus he’s worked with Cypress Hill so obviously he’s a man who enjoys his freedoms ;-)

I feel better just cause they mentioned Batman Begins.

First Angels kicked ass. And let's not forget, he's a producer on Supernatural. I didn't know that he had directed the pilot on Chuck. Love that show. Can't wait for it to come back.

Hobbs, that's the same rumor I was told about. I just can't believe they'll roll with that though. Plus it goes against the Arnie terminator being the one that kills JC as told in T3. I expect twists but something like that would piss a lot of people off. I don't see it happening.

I personally do want want to see it, because they have already done a whole movie using the concept - Face Off. Once is enough.... And yeah, stick to the story line or deviate which makes sense. I love the show, but sometimes I felt myself saying... "oh come on, bull$hit!"

I am most likely going to see this, barring the trailer looking too over the top. McG's clearly got his heart in the right place in making this film, and that makes me feel a bit better about him directing the film. He sure sounds like the story is what will drive the film, and not necessarily the action sequences, special effects, or makeup on the Terminators. I read the AICN report on the supposed ending of Terminator: Salvation, and frankly I think it's a little too ridiculous. I think it could work as an ending for Part 2, but not the first one. There are many logistic questions that come to mind, but I'll hold off on asking them unless the ending is proven true.

One thing about his remarks puzzled me though. While I agree that Batman Begins was made compromise-free, isn't that the wrong film to compare this project to? Batman wasn't a post-apocalyptic sci-fi war film, unlike Terminator: Salvation. If you want to compare this film to something like Waterworld, that's another story. And Waterworld is certainly an example of a film that took a wrong turn or six in its production.
