Director McG seems to be out of the loop in regards to the Terminator franchise. Or he knows something that's being kept secret from the public. With Terminator Salvation hitting Blu-ray recently, the director sat down for a live director commentary in which he once again brought up the point that he's tasked with continuing the fifth and sixth films of the franchise. The guys over at Gizmodo have published the chat from the director.

Check it out here.

The issue with his assurance of returning behind the camera for more installments is recent reports that the Halcyon group is auctioning off the Terminator franchise rights under their plan for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.  While there are interested parties looking to take over the brand, this doesn't guarantee that he will be behind the camera again. Sony Pictures, the studio who handled the foreign distribution for Terminator Salvation, is rumored to be one of the studios looking to take part in the auction.

Should Christian Bale return? Should McG? Sound off below.

Joseph McGinty Nichol, ya I used your full name so you know your in trouble. Please stick to producing tv. Your not half bad at it. Keep Bale (if he even still wants to do it) and get a new director...for the love of all that's holy...

Not sure why everyone has a bug up their A$$ about McG and the Terminator movie. I just watched it on Blu-ray this weekend and i did go to the theatre to see it as well. It was a great Terminator flick, it stuck to the mythology of Termintor and it answered questions to why John Connor trusts machines enough to have them working for him in the future, how he got his scar, the evolution of the T-800, and how Connor became leader of the resistance. I mean the acting was fairly solid even though it was an action film the movie was well paced. Hell James Cameron even signed off on the movie as did Arnold!! What the hell do you people want? None of you are directors and could never beable to hand the work they have to do! If you think you can ..well go to film school or direct the next big independant movie, then sit behind the camera of a big budget action film and have it bring in over $200 million then come back and be critical. Not sure how Terminator Salvation was NOT a good movie?!?

For the record, I had high expectations for the Christian Bale Terminator movie, and it failed me like a cheap condom. I tried to watch the movie 3x, heck 2x on bootlegg and fell asleep soundly as a new-born baby. Not sure where the movie lost me, Ive watched everything Terminator since Arnold said " I'll be back". But this movie, heck I've seen better directing on the Scifi channel. How cool would it have been , had they mixed in characters from the Sarah Connor series into the movie? And merged the 2 audiences which I'm sure they thought were one and the same. Imagine seeing Summer Glau on the big screen or that female that played the liquid terminator. Interesting I think.

Im sure MCG knows alot more abotu whats going on with the Terminator franchise then an editor for a movie forum/news website, considering he actually works in the industry.

I bought the Blu ray this weekend with the skull box.  I am happy enough with the movie.

I liked the movie but I can understand why some didn't.

I watched the live chat and the only thing I didn't like about apossible sequel is MCG wanting to have John Conner travel back in time to try and warn people.

Been there, done that. Main reason I hated T3 was because they recicled the plot of T2 (bad robot time travel to kill John and good robot comes to save him)

Keep the story in the future. The only time travel we should see is when John sends his father back in time.

McG wants Terminator but Terminator don't want him.  Go away McG, stick to TV like Chopaski suggested.  You already drove the franchise to bankruptcy what else do you want!!!???

DarkKnight2280 you are a wise , wise man. Couldn't of said it better myself. It explained alot and gave us "real" terminator fans alot. Plus how can you  not love the whole robot bike scene with the guns n roses you could be mine bit a clear shout out to T2. I mean it was great the lil things thrown in.

Everyone wants to see crap like Avatar i guess lol. Either that or just Kiss Jim Cameron's ass too much. Sure he was the Master of Terminator but he didn't have the balls to make a good future set Terminator movie which is what i wanted and im sure others have wanted.  Insted he's screwin around with blue cat people lol sorry YOU FAIL SIR!

I would love more Terminator and Christian Bale for that matter he was awesome as connor. I loved how he yelled at that jackass on movie set, and McG at least stepped up knowing that no matter what this would be compared to everything Jim Cameron.

Movie was ok, nothing more, and unfortunately to many probably a lot less.  It seemed to aspire to be something special but just neven made it.  It really reminded me of the Pred vs Alien movies.  It took a concept from a genre that we all demanded ( the Machine War in this case, the aliens vs preds in AVP), getting everyone excited, but just didn't live up to the expectation.  I did like the CGI sequences, the story just didn't grab me.  In T1, T2,and even T3 you really got behind the characters and the human struggle.  In this one they seemed like the machines.

Thanks SGTTECHCOM!! I mean I want to see AVATAR and im sure its going to be awesome. And you have doods like HANSON and many others who love Camerons work, but they bomb on Salvation..meanwhile he was there helping MCG and ENDORSING it..basically saying its great and he agrees with the direction he put it in. But you still have the haters...i dont get it..But Yeah i loved all the little things like the YOU COULD BE MINE song during the bike scene and all the other little things. I would like to se ehim back to do the next one. I do agree with TACID..dont send Connor back to the past to warn people...its been done!! Keep it in the future and let us see more of the war, lets see John fully take on the job of leader of the resistance!! :)
