McGowan is Still Set for Rodriguez's BARBARELLA?

Last summer's reports that executives at Universal weren't happy about director Robert Rodriguez wanting his girlfriend, Rose McGowan, as the next Barbarella are unfounded, says McGowan to MTV. Or perhaps Universal is more open to the idea now and this is all coming to light. Rose talked to the network on the "malicious" lies about her casting choice and budget issues being the reason why the remake of the cult classic is being held up.

"[The news that I was out] was really irritating because I know all the people over there and obviously it wasn't true. It was very malicious and there was no proof. Oftentimes these things have basis in truth but this didn't. I have contracts to prove it."

She also added that preproduction is still underway, the costumes are done and she's even got a spaceship set to prove it.

I was hoping they would go ahead with this project, To me it's one of those films that could use a remake and update and why not Rose as the lead, she's as hot as they come, damm I envy R.Rodriguez

Rose is hot as they come? Are you smoking crack? She looks like a cheap prostitute strung out on meth. One of the nastiest looking woman in showbiz second only to that stupid slut Fergie.

I use to disagree with this project under Rodriguez direction. I hate what I saw of Planet Terror...as it is unwatchable. But I changed my mind about Rodriguez' involvement because I saw the Rodriguez Film School segment on Once Upon A Time In Mexico where he showed off his studio. He appears to be a really nice guy and a unconventional thinker, as I always thought. His studio is every kid's dream, and besides, he loves this woman. I understand that now.

However, what changed my mind about this project is that I saw a way that it can be done. After viewing the movie Heavy Metal: FAKK 2 aka Heavy Metal 2000, I was convinced that this movie...if given a similar treatment would work. Sure FAKK 2 has its problems, mainly the soundtrack...and not the best animation, but there is a messy diamond in the rough there. If I was Rodriguez...I'd buy the rights to do a stand alone, none Heavy Metal related version of that movie as a launch for new Barbarella.

I've never seen the original, or at least I've forgotten if I have. Maybe I saw it when I was really young. So I'm ok with a new one.

Quatchkopf...I'm pretty sure she is hot compared to your girlfriend now tell me I am smoking crack based on said comment...I have to think you are on the butt crack with that Fergie comparison...Let me tell what needs to be done here...Go and get your eyes checked and then get those 1 inch thick glasses at LensCrafters and then take another look, I will agree that she's not as hot as they come but hot none the less...Shall I post some pics of her in the pictures section for you?

... and I am still set for not going to see this.

btw... I don't agree with the new terms of use. I never read them and pressed the Agree button by accident. Take that, high priced lawyers.

I agree, Rose is no the right person for this part. She's no Jane Fonda. I don't find Rose attractive at all.

TayDor. Your opinion is respected.
Quatchkoph (Queef & Schwarzkopf?), Rose looks like a very high priced hooker strung out on Ecstasy and is a fine looking woman. Agreed., much better looking than Fergie. I accept your apology.
mlaforcer – I will keep a look out for your postings.
metalwater, I’ve been drinking. What?

Oh. And I'm looking forward to this so far. Time and trailer will tell. Tricky project.

Nothing about this project that I have heard or read so far has turned me off.

I love the original - as boring and tame as it really is today.

I actually like Rose McGowan. I was going to clarify that with the usual "she's no X" or "she may not be as good as Y" line - but then I remembered how much I hate that.

As I heard the Sess say recently, it seems like people think they are cool or great reviewers or something if they just hate on everything all the time.

There are few things that get my ire up - and you'll know what they are.

I'd much prefer to be excited about projects and like things, though -

so here is me liking RR remaking Barbarella, and me liking Rose as the lead.
