It can't finish on time

The nightmare that is becoming Ant-Man has hit another stumbling block. Adam McKay, one of the three director’s on Marvel short list to replace Edgar Wright (seen here) has now left the running. With the director of Anchorman out, that leaves We're the Millers director Rawson Marshall Thurber and Zombieland's Ruben Fleischer.
I haven’t seen We're the Millers, but Zombieland had the right combinations of comedy and horror. Could Fleischer be the one to wrangle both comedy and superhero action?
Sound off on your choices Maniacs!
Synopsis: The film follows a biochemist Dr. Hank Pym using his latest discovery, a group of subatomic particles, to create a size-altering formula. Though his first self-test goes awry, he develops an instrument that helps him communicate with and control insects. Paul Rudd will play Scott Lang/Ant-Man and Michael Douglas stars as Hank Pym.
Ant-Man is written by Joe Cornish (Attack the Block) and features Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Patrick Wilson and Corey Stoll.
Ant-Man arrives July 17, 2015.

Mckay's tweeted that it was a scheduling conflict with previous commitments that caused him to drop out. But if that's the case why go into negotiations knowing that you might not be able to do the job? He just wasted everyone's time.

He probably threw out a number that would of been high enough for him to reconsider the previous commitments.  Once Marvel said no to his high dollar amount, he bailed out.  Pretty normal for most negotiations.  Would prefer the guy who directed Zombie land anyway.  The other two directors seem to have only comedy under thier belts.

July 2015?! Can you make a Marvel movie in a year?

I just don't see how it can be done. Sticking with the original release date, at this point is stupid.

At this point, they are gonna have to push back the release date.

The Zombieland guy has the most potential to get it right on this short list.. Also, scrap the whole Pym/Lang story and just use Pym.. Rudd is NOT superhero (even one of Antman/Giantman's small stature) material..

Interesting that they seem to be adamant about hiring a comedy director.  I had assumed that the creative differences between Marvel and Wright were based on Wright wanting more of a comedy than Marvel did.  It would seem like bringing in another comedy director might not solve the problem.  Then again, maybe I'm wrong about the Wright/Marvel split.

Dear Marvel Studios,

Call up Edgar Wright. Apologize to him. Rehire him to do Ant-Man. Relax your grip. You'll be so glad you did.

Rawson Thurber who directed We're the Miller's has reportedly passed on the job as well. That just leaves Ruben Fleischer, if he passes it's time to piss on the fire and call the dogs. Fiege needs to suck it up, admit the movie was a bad idea and scrap it, before it goes any further.
