The Jim Henson Co. has set Dave McKean to direct VARJAK PAW, which will be based on SF Said's kung fu cat series. Said and McKean will co-write the script.

The story centers on a Mesopotamian blue kitten who embarks on a journey to save his family and in the process discovers he is part of a mystical tradition of magical martial arts.

The first book was published in 2003 by David Fickling Books at Random House.  and Henson also has picked up the rights to the second book, THE OUTLAW VARJAK PAW.

Whose journey ended abruptly when the cat encountered a 6 foot tall Kung Fu master rat going by the name of Splinte.

My mom loves these books, and I called her and told her about the movie and she screamed. I've never heard of these books, but she swears they're great. Personally, i think Garfield would kick this cat's butt! lol.

Iracors, I also think animated would be the way to go, especially with a cat that kicks butt.

Yes... live action would be too hokey.
