Two stars of THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy of movies, Ian McKellen and Andy Serkis, are locked to lend their voices to a new Aardman Animation/DreamWorks stop-motion animated movie. FLUSHED AWAY is the title of the new project by the WALLACE AND GROMIT team, with McKellen playing the film's villain, a mean spirited frog, and Serkis being his sidekick in dirty deeds, a sewer rat.
In talks to join the duo is X-MEN's Hugh Jackman. If a deal can be struck the Aussie superstar would play the film's central character, a uppercrust British rodent that accidentally gets flushed from his life of oppulance into the sewers of London.
Henry Anderson, David Bowers and Sam Fell are directing and Peter Lord is executive producing. Dick Clement and Ian LaFrenais (A SOUND OF THUNDER) wrote the script.
Aardman is also working on a feature length film starring Wallace and Gromit. Titled THE WALLACE AND GROMIT MOVIE: CURSE OF THE WERERABBIT, the film is due out in theaters in October 2005.
