The difference is in this future, Magneto and Professor X are married. The have been the most powerful gay mutants known to man for 30 years. Their school is in NY or Mass. One of those states that allows elderly, gay, mutant marriage. :)

Agree mellowdoux. JC wasn't a failure due to some fan boycott as DOD appears to infer. It was a matter of fanboy and general audience ignorance and lack of knowledge and awareness which the marketing campaign was not able to overcome.

With all the money they put into the film some cartoons, some crossover marketing with the likes of McDonald ahead of the release would've been wise to raise awereness with the younger crowd.

Plus as far as the marketing this happened while there was a transition going on at Disney in this department which some believe had a big impact.
