Toy Maniac: Open the Exclusive Figure? - Jul 03, 2008 - 02:43pm
whoah... such hostilities...I'm still waiting for my charbroiled aunt Beru and Uncle Owen remains! Whats the deal with that? Too gristly? what about Char Broiled Anakin Skywalker with removable facemask and a sound clip that screams "NOOOOOOO!!"I'm not a geek... Hell, by the time I get to San Diego I dont go for any big bulky toys, I search out those ellusive comic book pages from my fav artists or $500+ animation cels or sketches from Heavy Metal or The Simpsons Movie. i actually found a pencil drawing (Authentic storyboard) of Bart standing next to Milhouse for $50! how friggin cool was that? its not colored but its not a photocopy either, the photocopies were also $50!!
Bale Will Bail if Robin Shows in KNIGHT Sequel - Jul 03, 2008 - 08:07am
while I'll agree its too early for Robin to show up, i think you're all missing the bigger picture just because Joel's Batman ficks are so widely despised by everybody.
1) Robin IS an established part of the Batman history, theres no getting around that.
2) so is Batgirl.
the words that I have to stress are "...IF DONE CORRECTLY" sure, why hate on Robin if its done correctly and properly, and Nolan is just the man to do it.
Dont forget, Robin was first introduced because the symbol of Batman was scaring kids and he brought on a sidekick to tell the people he could kick ass on the criminals but the good citizens of Gotham had nothing to fear from Batman.
In a sense, Batman got a bit of bad Public Relations and needed Robin to make people believe in him and his cause.
Mania Manifesto: Top 5 “Inspirations” for Wall-E - Jul 01, 2008 - 10:27pm
"Who's Johnny?" I always thought that was refferencing Jack Nicholson from the Shining.
and speaking of The Shining, a loney guy goes nuts in a haunted hotel and kills his family...or tries to.
in Wall-E, a lonely robot goes nuts on a haunted planet and kills his fembot... or tries to.
you know.. We can continue making absurd comparisons to other stranger sci/fi movies that are closer to Wall-E than Blade Runner and Castaway or we can just simply review the movie.
right? RIGHT?
RESIDENT EVIL 4 Is "Possible" for Sony - Jul 01, 2008 - 07:15pm
before making Resident Evil 4, werent they talking about doing a totally CGI Resident Evil DVD first before the fouth part? I thought the R.E. CGI DVD was completely separate and outside of the movie continuity... am I wrong?as for part 3, stuff blew up, there was action, there wasnt much story but a lot of the movie was stolen from other flicks like The Birds, Road Warrior, Day of the Dead and even Resident Evil the original.say what you want about R.E.III it was vastly superior to RE2 - which stole it's main villain from that season of Buffy where she fights A.D.A.M. - hokey.Paul WS Anderson is a hack.
TV Wasteland: Three Essential Podcasts for Three Essential Shows/Movies - Jun 30, 2008 - 01:19am
Saturday, GINGER SNAPS BACK is the prequel (its actually the third in the series, but its the prequel, its quite good)
Eagle eyed folks might recognize the sets from the first episode of FEAR ITSELF (the vampire fort in Fear Itself is the same fort used for Ginger Snaps Back)
CBS Announces Fall Premiere Dates - Jun 29, 2008 - 12:52am
OH, OH, OH, OH, ...6 YEARS of Two and a Half Men...YAY!?
fuck CBS, they suck.
FEAR ITSELF: In Sickness and in Health - Jun 29, 2008 - 12:47am
dont worry Arby, have you ever heard of a new summer series getting reupped from a major network? it NEVER happens. Oh you can argue it happened with 4400 and Dead Zone on the USA network, but rarely does a major network renew a summer show, its dead and gone after this season. Just sit back and enjoy it because it wont be back no matter how well it performs.
Look at MASTERS OF SCIENCE FICTION... did anybody watch that show? nope... dead and gone.
this is the exact same... once the new shows start again in January or october or November FEAR ITSELF will be little more than a footnote.
FEAR ITSELF: In Sickness and in Health - Jun 28, 2008 - 12:11am
I think its the whole, "throw us a twist we didnt see coming" that bogs this episode down into "it was stupid" catagory.
If the brides brother (who apparantly is in cahoots with the sister) originally send the note to the intented recipiant (the groom), but it was delivered to the wrong person (the bride), why does she freak so much? It should be obvious to the bride when she opened the letter that her brother had delivered the note as requested and it was delivered to the wrong person instead.
Yet she's acting like she's terrified of some new information - WHAT???
pretty soon the groom starts acting like a psychopath to throw us off but this isnt the case at all, he's actually the NORMAL one. -WHAT??
I honestly dont think shortening this one would have helped at all, its the delivery of the twist ending after 55 minutes of set up that doesnt make sense.
FEAR ITSELF: The Family Man - Jun 25, 2008 - 08:07pm
redhairs, yup.. the "forces" at work were plain and simple "its just a royal cosmic fuck-up", its pretty simple. LOL!I would have loved to have had this episode be expanded to a full two hours! I think that would have filled some of the holes in the plot.
actually, all three eps could have done with a 90 minute timeslot.
FEAR ITSELF: The Family Man - Jun 25, 2008 - 10:14am
I thought the switchero happened by accident and Brautigan was just taking full advantage of it. I felt so sorry for Dennis, this is truely a "damned if you do, damned if you dont" moment... I mean he's truely fucked either way but I didnt see the outcome till the sheriff said there was a survivor.
one thing I didnt understand, nobody believes Dennis despite all his answers are 100% correct and spot on perfect. When Brautigan comes to visit him he talks nonchalant and flippantly about their unique situation...um... these conversations are RECORDED evidence, Braudigan blatantly admits that they switched bodies when he visits Dennis in jail... wasnt anyone listening?
Also Dennis (as Braudigan) has a very good point to his lawyer, why would Braudigan (as Dennis) share all his information with him? Why is this never looked into?
still a damn fine episode... I'll be there thursday but i wont expect this series to remain on the air next summer.
Update: Three New Posters for G.I JOE - Jun 23, 2008 - 04:56pm
Gauelyboy, Duke's costume in this poster is virtually identical to the outfits the vampires wore in the beginning of Blade 3 when they were getting off the helicopter to go into the pyramid.
IE: its cool, but its nothing special.
Rise Of Cobra is a pretty good title but they'll have to really impress me with the first trailer... till them I wont be holding my breath.
wiseguy, the average GI Joe character wears outfits that look beyond rediculous. If they get it half right, they would rework the outfits like Joel Silver did for the X-Men chracters.
Exclusive: LOST meets X-MEN in the new novel GONE - Jun 19, 2008 - 10:11am
"Hunger threatens"? what, a 14 year old cant make a fucking sandwich?
I'm seriously hating anything "geared for teenagers" I mean i'm 38 so if i saw this book, I'd be gone in a flash... poof.
TV Review: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: Revelations - Jun 17, 2008 - 10:32am
another thing to consider is that possible the final five Cylons were built and designed by "The guardians" that were shown in RAZOR, and these "guardians" figured out how to make the final 5 Cylons be able to reproduce.my question is, will they use the guardian type cylons that they featured in RAZOR in the prequel show Caprica? i think that would be a nice touch.
TV Review: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: Revelations - Jun 17, 2008 - 10:22am
heres my theory, the fifth isnt actually "a person" its the Viper that Kara arrived in. maybe thats a stretch but see, the whole thing that started the civil war with the cylons was the Raiders were being lobotomized, right?if the raiders are actually a "cylon" then why wouldnt the viper be one too?
also, as I've learned with talking about previous TV shows like buffy and Angel, you cant "spoil" the episode if its already aired. if a person didnt watch the finale thats their problem... it has aired and theres no point in labeling things "spoilers" that were already revealed in "Revelations" they are not spoilers.
Mumbling Kitsune: Goodbye, Inuyasha (It's About Time) - Jun 16, 2008 - 04:02pm
"Though some fans are understandably upset, the end of Inuyasha is not necessarily a bad thing. Manga and anime series in general are well-known for rambling on after the story's main climax played out ages ago, but if there was an award to be won for taking this flaw to the extreme, Inuyasha would surely win it."
the writer does mention that other manga series have repeatedly fallen for their own long winded finales, it just mentions that Inuyasha would take the cake.
ok thats arguable, I've never heard of "One Piece" or "Detective Conan" and Pokemon might win and award for being long winded, but its hardly anywhere near the same calber as Inuyasha, Gundam or DBZ saga.
Inuyasha is fun watching on and off again, but daily or weekly viewings week after week, anything becomes stale.
I mean hell, I LOVE giant robots but I cant watch an Armored Trooper Votoms marathon either so I know where this dude comes from.
outside of anime... our American series have fallen prey to the same exact trap...cough (The SIMPSONS) cough.....
Lawrence Kasdan to Pen ROBOTECH - Jun 16, 2008 - 11:20am
i've been wondering about this project for a while. Does this mean we're all stuck waiting till after clash of the Titans comes out in 2010 to get our first Robotech movie? And hopefully they will be smart enough to NOT have all three alien invasions happen within a to hour time frame.
oh...and would somebody please make a live action Star Blazers already?
Was This Hulk Really Necessary? - Jun 14, 2008 - 01:09am
yeah believe it some people actually liked Ang Lee's Hulk, I mean all you have to do is hold it up against THREE other box office weiners Ghost Rider, Daredevil and Fantastic Four to realize its not THAT bad of a film. it hs its fair share of problems, yes but BAD? c'mon... even Flash Gordon is herald as a "cult classic" and Howard the Duck is the standard to measure any bad movie...and at least Ang Lee didnt cast Rob Schneider to bounce comedic one-liners off his Hulk either. So quit yer bitchin' and let it slide a little.
let it be stated for the record that the cgi in Ang Lee's HULK was no better or no worse than the CGI used to create YODA and JAR JAR Binks. Love it, hate it - he's still green and big and doesnt look realistic because... uh... he's fucking huge and fucking green and wears purple cutoffs?
anybody that claims that the CGI used on the Hulk was "shit" or "horrible" or (the most absurd of all) "FAKE LOOKING" needs only to be reminded that the Hulk is a big green fictional character (believe it) that will NEVER fit into anything live action - WHY? its simple, people thought the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park looked real because they matched pictures we've seen in books, plus they were as real as you or I, they're just extinct. Now the Hulk (along with his CGI friends YODA and JAR JAR Binks) isnt real and theres no way that anyone will trick your mind into believing what you're witnessing on screen is "NOT FAKE"... because its perposterous. He's big and green, get over it. It looked great.
now, the Hulk poodle dogs looked convincing too... they were just stupid.
Stupid ideas should not be confused with FAKE LOOKING CGI.. if you want to see an example of fake CGI watch Sci/Fi channel's Grendel or SS Doomtrooper, or Wooley Mammoth or Insectizoids from Galaxy 10 or some such garbage.
Blaim the writer, blaim Ang Lee, but leave the CGI complaints home.
First Teaser Trailer for PUNISHER - Jun 13, 2008 - 09:57am

First Teaser Trailer for PUNISHER - Jun 13, 2008 - 09:55am

McFarlane is back on Spawn Comics! - Jun 11, 2008 - 10:22am
yes Joey he's still alive. Todd doesn't bother me nearly as much as Rob Leifield does. But taking over at #185 does ANYBODY care about SPAWN enough to start reading this title again? I know when it first started, I have a complete collection SPAWN #1 - #10 but then after that it was just like "ok, lets crank these puppies out" and even though Mcfarlane left the series, another McFarlane clone took over. The art was indistinguishable from Todd McFarlane.
Personally I'm not put off by all the variant Spawn characters since I knew long ago that he was a one trick pony but he has done other things like his Spiderman comics, who can forget the fiasco with the line "His webline is advantageous" oh really Todd.. Spiderman's webline is advantageous? Who writes this crap anyway? oh wait... TODD was writing Spiderman at the time... LOL!
so Todd how about keeping the original boat afloat and relauching this title and calling it untimely SPAWN #1 ... what the fans really want is another original Spawn title run of #1 - #10

TV Review: FEAR ITSELF: The Sacrifice - Jun 09, 2008 - 11:33am
Jawbreaking, a better sub-plot (twist) would have revealed stakes, holy water and crosses inside the bags they were carrying.
Knowledge and belief of vampirism would have made a vastly better twist. Even mentioning in the end he's a decendant of the original Van Helsing would have been a pretty shocking twist.
also 2) I wasnt questioning why the girls did different things to the brothers, thats fine, why was the vampire attracted to (or did it NEED to smell) the blood from Lemon's head while the vampire went straight to the pit and attacked the other guy who wasnt bleeding at all? Hmmm... its just strange is all.
I woulndt give it a D- rating either, its sure nice to see a show about horror on TV again.(the last show I remember watching was in the mid 90's called tales from the darkside, tales from the Crypt, Monsters and Freddy's Nightmares) I kinda would like it to stick around for awhile.
TV Review: FEAR ITSELF: The Sacrifice - Jun 09, 2008 - 12:28am
wow, no, I didnt think it was all that bad. Yeah yeah its a Vampire story, and good Lord dont the canadian production houses tear down their sets after filming? (I'm speaking of course about the FORT was used INTACT from Ginger Snaps 3!) I mean its still cool and all, but shit... its still the exact same Canadian logging fort.First I did have some questions, why was the injured kid's lips sewn shut, and why was he staked through the heart BEFORE the vampire could get him? EHH?? (the FATHER's lips werent sealed and HE wasnt staked through the heart and he was lying in the next bed over)ok the other brother was thrown into the pit type thing as a sacrafice, and Lemon (which is the STUPIDEST name EVER!!!) gets bashed over the head and wakes upside-down dripping blood into a bucket - was this for effect since the older brother kicked it aside and the vampire didnt seem all that interested in the dripping blood? Just Lemon. if this vampire has been plauging these people for such a long time, and they have to keep making sacrafices to it, how'd they kill it so damn easy???? I think that the vampire would have been easier to kill if the girls hadnt offered sacrafices to it and they all ganged up on it and cut its head off.Ok, yes we know that the boys were running guns at some point but was this sub-plot even needed to propel the story forward? NO!
Also for them acting like they found the fort by accident, it sure looked like the older brother knew where he was leading the other two guys since he walked DIRECTLY to the fort with two guys and a canoe, was the fort just off the main road?
New Set Photos for DA VINCI Prequel - Jun 07, 2008 - 10:37am
she didnt JUST come along... she was Jesus' daughter!
you guys are really going ot have to sit down and decide on a consistent way to link news photos to stories, sometimes its within the news story then somethings its up at the top in the link bar. do things consistency.
Freestyle Deals With HAUNTING Molly - Jun 05, 2008 - 12:39pm
is Anne Lynne McCord any relation to Galactica 1980's Kent McCord? he starred on code red I think...and FARSCAPE too as Ben Bowder's father
FIREFOX test
Heijningen Leading Army of the DEAD - Jun 05, 2008 - 11:51am
if they are going to do a real apocalyptic zombie movie, why center it in Las Vegas? I mean thats cool but lets see the bigger picture, have a global (or at the very least United states) movie that shows various zombie tales of survival in some Major cities: LA and DALLAS and NEW YORK... show me whats happening across the United States with different groups of people all trying to survive.
why confine the zombie outbreak to one city? We've seen it before... show the bigger picture.
Comic Review: BATMAN #676 - Jun 04, 2008 - 09:47am
I'm almost positive they abandoned the comics code Authority a few years back. I think the publishers govern their own books.
Next Rd of Mania Trivia is Live - May 30, 2008 - 04:07pm
WOW damn... ok I think I'll sit this round out... i think I recognized #7 as being for a popular movie which will remain anonymous... as for the others... i think theres quite a few movies that I havent seen.
damn... i'll be interested in seeing these once they are revealed
Universal and Platinum Dunes Go OUIJA - May 29, 2008 - 04:27pm
I think it was Witchboard, I've at least heard of Wichboard but still havent seen it. Michael Bay has a penchant for explosions, i cant imagine any explosions in a movie about a Ouija board...still.
i mean good lord on the remakes, Legend of Hell House hasnt aged well, remake that, The Stuff needs a follow up, THE TASTE!
I mean if they insist they could remake The Haunting again since the last time didnt fair so well.LOL
Book Buzz: Starship Troopers Nostalgia - May 26, 2008 - 09:56pm
SportWarrior, you have to check out the Roughnecks complete series box set, in the end they managed to return to Earth and have an all out end all against the bugs, it certainly LOOKED like the series was finished to me although if I remember correctly there WAS a cliffhanger ending after all was said and done.
the Roughnecks complete series DVD box set is a must for anyone that was upset with the direct to DVD sequel.
and speaking of the sequel, the original cost $105 million dollars to produce, the sequel cost... a whooping $9 million. Yup you hear the numbers.
Why there seems to be no middle ground for a Starship Troopers movie in the 30-50 million range is beyond me, why was the sequel budget slashed so dramatically? I thought it was gonig to suck more than it did because with a budget of $9 million you cant even afford big name actors to star, let alone do your quality CGI special effects. you're basically reduced to stop motion, latex robotics, green screen effects and actors that just graduated (or didnt graduate) from acting academy.
Box Office: Paramount Finds Memorial Day Treasure with INDY - May 25, 2008 - 02:27pm
it WAS a fun movie, no knocking that. I you didnt like the vines scene, you probably were bothered by the CGI gophers too. (those gophers, while CGI, really are ALL over the Nevada desert. Somebody in the film crew probably saw them and desided to put them in the movie, its not like they danced or anything.)
The vines didnt bother me, dropping the Atomic Bomb scene did it for me and his escape was a wee tad over the top, (just a tiny bit) then he looks at the blast afterwards - LOL!!
Mutt gets stung by a scorpion and nothing happens? Onatop gets bitten by a fire ant and nothing happens? hmm.. ok that is as minor as repeatedly shooting at point blank range and missing.
but the bomb was the biggest and most absurd leap of faith, I think it did it for me.
also the Mania site wont let me LOG INTO THE MANIACS FORUMS section!!!!!!!!!!!!
New Photos for DRAGONBALL Cast - May 23, 2008 - 10:07am
these photos dont do anything for me, personally. also in that one pic of Goku holding the dragonball, it looked like the little stars were added after... lame.
this could be worse than scooby doo.
Iron Scribes Penning HIGHLANDER Remake - May 20, 2008 - 08:05pm
"THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE...err... seven... plus a show... and two other shows... and an anime Highlander too... oh, tat quickening thing, it never happened... and oh, now we're Aliens from the planet Zeist... oh wait... no we're not, we're all from the past but if we return to the future then we negate the whole quickening thing from the first movie.
actually there can be SEVERAL highlanders!"
honestly, i own it on DVD... not interested in a remake... who cares.
again what is up with the hot pink background????
Breck Eisner & Sony Prepping FLASH GORDON - May 20, 2008 - 07:56pm
why remake a movie from the 80's? just change all the actors and make an official sequel.and what do you mean Flash has been gathering dust for years when its just recentl started playing all over Encore channel and it just got its official DVD release (and theres some show on sci/fi channel masquerading as a flash gordon show but it sucks.)is the Queen soundtrack still available? whats with the hot pink background? it really sucks.
Rob Corddry is PROJECT A - May 15, 2008 - 06:25pm
I thought New Line was dead? i mean this may be old news since it says the script has been floating around for years.
goldeneyes, agreed, who proofreads these articles? is Ben Still = Ben Stiller?
From Indy to Tintin to Lincoln - May 12, 2008 - 06:22pm
Roads, Del Toro is a tiny bit busy directing two The Hobbit movies.
I didnt know Liam Nesson was in Indiana Jones and Tin Tin, I thought that was John Hurt???
DEATH RACE Arrives Early - May 12, 2008 - 05:53pm
Paul WS "I'm not Uwe Boll, my movies are slightly better!!" Anderson directs some ok fun (even the aweful AvP, Event Horizon and the 2 Resident Evil movies all have at least been "once watch" video rentals) so I'm not worried about that. its mindless bloody fun in the spirit of Road Warrior...
the part that worries me is that I KNOW this is a remake, but it really sounds like "Running Man's Road Warrior meets Driven" lets fact it, it wasnt particularly original when they did it the FIRST time, and now all we can hope fo is that it'll be better than Rollerball.
so yeah, thank god Uwe Boll isnt directing, P.W.S.A. directing doesnt really bother me but...
why would anybody frame an innocent man just to have him race in the Death Race, only to reclaim his freedom that was taken away wrongly? cant Jason Stathem have been guilty then been granted his freedom (ala Escape from New York?) why does the hero need to be a reformed EX-CON framed for murder in the first place?
the goal of winning the prize of your freedom means little when you were framed unjustly to begin with added to the fact that you're going to kill hundreds of thousands of drivers, pedestrians and innocents to "win your freedom" strikes me as a bit odd...
but hell... its only a fun movie with a stupid plot.
DVD Review: FRONTIER(S) - May 10, 2008 - 10:29pm
last year they elected one movie that stood out over the other seven... wasnt it called ALONE or something simple like that?
besides, "NINE films to DIE for" just sounds stupid... i'll have to check it out.
I also dont believe that "it was too scary for theaters" saying what? its scary enough for DVD? gimme a break, thats lame
Would Miller Do BUCK ROGERS? - May 10, 2008 - 01:43pm
just as long as nobody attaches the words "a SCI/FI channel original series" to it.
I mean I wont hold my breath after the Flash Gordon fiasco, even the second season of Buck Rogers sucked ass, and while I thought the first season was awesome it DOES NOT stand the test of time very well at all.
New Round of MANIA Trivia Is Live! - May 09, 2008 - 05:24pm
bigsxc2k, its not REALLY Rex in Nightbreed, I think the original Rex costume was melted down and scrapped, but the Berserkers I've long thought were heavily influenced by Rex.
New Round of MANIA Trivia Is Live! - May 09, 2008 - 10:45am
wow... its really nice to see Rex back up there... I thought he had retired...after his brief cameo in Nightbreed as a Berserker!
had no clue about Slarman... I thought incorectly, it was Poltergiest.
so i got my 30 points but I didnt see my name on the list, whats up widdat?
SPEED RACER - May 09, 2008 - 12:33am
just some facts, scott, the Indy 500 is really a poor example of a race track with "twists and turns" LOL.
...and just for the record, I **HATED** the cartoon when I was a kid, chim-chim and the little boy were annoying and the animation was horrible and the characters were stiff and one dementional. If they gave it any kick, it would be in the FX, since they really had nothing to go on with the characters.
John Goodman... oh yeah... uh, Fred Flintstone... riiiiight.
I was asking myself "why Speed Racer?" 9 months ago, "why not Robotech, Macross or Star Blazers?
DESTRO from G.I. JOE - May 07, 2008 - 09:14pm
oh yeah.. Street Fighter... 'nuf said.
DESTRO from G.I. JOE - May 07, 2008 - 09:00pm
ok I like Ecleston, i liked him in 28 days later, and Dr. Who but how is THAT DESTRO??
he looks like an ordinary business man? wheres the silver mask?
Fox is off to WAR - May 07, 2008 - 08:49pm
now wait a minute, yes it sounds like Small Soldiers, but till we hear more I say give it the benefit of the doubt, a movie this early on doesnt need the stygma of having its idea connected to another film if it actually isnt similar.
at least its not a remake or a re-imagining. it just doesnt sound particularly original.
till then i'm taking a wait and see... i wont bash it i'll just say its not particularly original.
23.5 Degrees: Bloodline---The Movie - May 03, 2008 - 01:47pm

Clive Barker's DREAD Hitting Theaters - May 02, 2008 - 12:12am
oh sorry they both were a guess. LOL! Thanks
there's only three Candyman sequels.
Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh (1995)
aka "Candyman II: Farewell to the Flesh"
2. Candyman: Day of the Dead (1999) (V)
aka "Candyman 3: Day of the Dead"
3. Sweets to the Sweet: The Candyman Mythos (2004) (V)
Clive Barker's DREAD Hitting Theaters - May 01, 2008 - 02:19pm
Nightbreed's primary problem was that it was advertised by Morgan Creek as a slasher flick when it was FAR FAR from being a Slasher flick.. Clive stressed over and over he wanted a MONSTER movie, not a gory bloody flick but a monster movie. It has tons of monsters... different types of monsters... unfortunately the studios thought it could be marketed as a slasher flick and that alone would draw people into huge opening weekend gross.. that backfired and Morgan Creek disowned the film, giving it as little fan-fair when it managed to squeak onto its only BARE-BONES DVD a few years down the road.
DREAD sounds a lot like the Scarecrow's origin story who uses the effects of fear to control and manipulate Gotham's finest. It sounds cool (if it sounds like I'm knocking it) I'll be there to support Clive... I wish he would direct more films.
Clive Barker's DREAD Hitting Theaters - May 01, 2008 - 07:43am
Hmm... definitly interested in Midnight Meat Train and Books of Blood, but i gotta ask a logical question, with 5 Candyman sequels, 7 Hellraiser sequels and a remake on the horizon, wheres NIGHTBREED 2, the Nightbreed SE DVD, or (god forbid) a Nightbreed Remake?
c'mon Clive, take me back to Midian...please!
New Photos for X-FILES 2 Online - Apr 29, 2008 - 10:46am
""The X-Files: I Want to Believe" is a stand-alone story in the tradition of some of the show's most acclaimed and beloved episodes"
so in otherwords, it'll be good but it wont actually resolve anything?
This movie should do one of the following, it should open the door to many more X-files films or completely close the book on the series.
fans have been waiting for a sequel for ten years, its good that it doesnt really connect with the alien invasion arc, which got too convoluted for fans.
So are fans going to be treated to one stand alone X-Files storyline every ten years now?
Indiana Jones by Sideshow Collectibles - Apr 27, 2008 - 10:51pm
thats actually a pretty nice collectable from Raiders of the Lost ark... considering the original Raiders of the Lost Ark action figures completely sucked ass.
WALL-E Meets a Magnet - Apr 23, 2008 - 03:22pm
as far as being excited about WALL-E.... I never got excited about CARS or Ratatullie either so I know how that goes... I skipped Ratatullie in theaters and I think I skipped CARS also but eventually ended up buying both of them on DVD.
as for my coke snorting nostrils, I'm definitly enjoying the hallucinations I'm getting from looking at YOUR avatar, so enjoy my big nose, ok?
Aquarion Season 1 Part 1 - Apr 23, 2008 - 01:50pm
I love giant Mecha and i'll certainly want to check this series out... however it DOES sound a lot like Neon Genesis Evangelion. My second gripe is, if the series is only 26 episodes why split the season into two box sets? Surely the thought had occured to them that they could sell ONE box set for twice as much? So this first set ranges between $36 and $37 (online prices) so apparantly they are saying the complete series wouldnt sell for $69.89? hmm... I dunno... I REALLY hate when a series season gets split up into two parts or volumes (cough...BSG...cough) LOST doesnt split their season into halves!
Get Your Mania Monster Madness On! - Apr 23, 2008 - 09:22am
admittedly, Jason Vorhees didnt stand much of a chance against Cloverfield in the semi-finals.
i had Godzilla battling it out with King Kong in the semi-finals too... Godilla always wins!
Get Your Mania Monster Madness On! - Apr 23, 2008 - 09:19am
you know whats wierd? every time I've played this, Godzilla always battles Cloverfield and guess who wins? Godzilla. Every Time!
I never got an email either, was I supposed to?
WALL-E Meets a Magnet - Apr 22, 2008 - 11:14pm
well MLAforcer, if thats your gameplan, it certainly sounds like you're doing your part to feed Hollywood's idea that all theater viewers like you want is more remakes and no original ideas. Thanks for speaking for the rest of us.
Pixar is 8 for 8, how many other studios can boast an impressive consecutive 8 picture run with ZERO box office failures?
You may not like them, but face it, they ARE on a serious roll.
as for Cars 2... yeah that struck me from left field too, I've heard about that and was wondering, hopefully the same year Cars 2 (2012) comes out, they'll have another original film too, same goes with Toy Story 3.
anyway... mlaforcer, I guess I'll see you in line for the Hellraiser remake, Friday the 13th Remake, the C.H.U.D. remake and the Nightmare on Elm Street remake because you know those will all be far superior to anything PIXAR puts out.
WALL-E Meets a Magnet - Apr 22, 2008 - 11:34am
I think we'd all rather see a follow-up to The Incredibles but lets face it, unlike Disney, PIXAR is very deliberately trying NOT to crank out direct to DVD sequel after sequel (except for Toy Story 2) they're focusing each summer on a new original idea and script.
One thing most of us bitch about here at Mania is that Hollywood is creativly bankrupt (I agree) at least PIXAR is going with new features over sequels. I applaud this tactic, and it seems to be working for them. Their studio is relatively small and they dont have the manpower to set aside a group of animators for sequel projects.
THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM - Apr 20, 2008 - 01:16am
This will do for me... now i'm interested. Solid reviews is what this flick needed... now all Jackie Chan and Jet Li need to team up again in Shanghai Knights III with Owen Wilson... Keep Jet away from the Rush Hour flicks
Creator Doesn't Approve of HARLOCK Film - Apr 17, 2008 - 03:45pm
they said that the live action Spiderman movie would never happen either (back in 1994) and lo and behold... poof. it only took them ten years.
if something has 100 million then we'll eventually see it.
my question, if its a Korean company, does that mean all the actors will be Korean?
The last Korean flick I saw was D-War and that was terrible.
In the Name of the King - Apr 17, 2008 - 03:22pm
i really like the fact that I can now finally post a comment under PAGE 2 or 3,4,5,6 the old way the comment box would jump back to page one. Joey.. we got the edit button back?? HALLELUJAH!!!!!!
More on HULK and Norton Rumors - Apr 16, 2008 - 06:52pm
I can undersand that the studio wants a commercial product, that much is logical, but as for run time discrepancies...cut the damn movie under two hours when it arrives on TV! shit people... thats the way my father did it, thats the wayour country did it, and damn it thats the way we're... oops sorry Thats Iron Man.
Merchandising: The Search for More Money! - Apr 16, 2008 - 04:04pm
in the forum section under "CONFUSED?" I proposed sticking all the left side ads at the bottom and extending the comments the full screen width... what gives? why the hell are the comments 5 1/4" squished into a two column design (which does SUCK by the way)
ditch it... put the ads someplace else. As far as I'm concerned, you guys can ditch the "RELATED CONENT" i never use that... why show articles from 2003,04 an 05 which ARENT related to the article we're reading???????
as for being Ad-saturated, Mania is keeping up with other sites like Dark horizons, AICN and joblo.com, they just need to stick them someplace else... I say stick them at the bottom of the page.
Bandai Releasing MACROSS in Blu-Ray - Apr 16, 2008 - 02:40pm
every one I've asked said that Macross Plus was better than... well maybe I'm thinking of some other Macross movie than Zero, but I heard that the one prior to Macross Plus pissed off all the fans (is that Macross Zero?)
New Line Axed By Time Warner - Apr 15, 2008 - 09:26pm
wheres the EDIT button???
and why are the comments not full page width? they are being cut off by the "RELATED PRODUCTS" ad...the comments should go span the full page width.
I do like the pictures its a nice touch, Although when i posted my last comment it was giving me "out of memory" "error on Line #116" msgs... strange.
New Line Axed By Time Warner - Apr 15, 2008 - 09:22pm
This is truely sad news. ionly remember this happening once before after a string of mega-blockbusters, Orion went down in flames just like this... sucks.
Cinema Of Fear 7inch Series 3 - Apr 13, 2008 - 11:22am
i forgot about freddy's dead.. i remember seeing that one in Roswell New Mexico at a drive in while on vacation and thinking prior to the movie that the entire movie would be in 3D... was a little dissapointed that 90% of it was not. Like the last 10 minutes were in 3d, it felt so cheap. at least Jason and Jaws gave us two full hours of 3d.
Two Minutes of IRON MAN - Apr 13, 2008 - 12:21am
you can Thank favereau for releasing this footage to the public. This was (mostly) the same footage (well I've seen a little bit more than this shows) from Wondercon 08's Iron Man Panal when Faveau talked at length about the boots.
Cinema Of Fear 7inch Series 3 - Apr 13, 2008 - 12:15am
i know i know, this is post three. i have to say that Elm Street 5 Dream Child was the LAMEST Freddy flick of them all, this action fgure proves how lame this flick was... that is just a STUPID chefs outfit and Freddy looks like a lame dork.
just my Opinion.
Cinema Of Fear 7inch Series 3 - Apr 13, 2008 - 12:11am
DJ, why are the popup windows for images like the size of two postage stamps with annoying scroll bars? I cant make the popup window size any bigger as it wont enlarge. Is that some option I fix on this side or is that your site HTML programming? its very annoying that i cant see the entire image, i have to scroll down and over to see parts of it.
Cinema Of Fear 7inch Series 3 - Apr 13, 2008 - 12:08am
SONY, I dont think the belt buckle has much to do with that, his shirts are all very long like to his knees so they dont come untucked.
CLOVERFIELD - Apr 10, 2008 - 08:30pm
chaotic, what is the "crushed can" edition?
ok i was down for this wild shaky-cam ride, i was DOWN for giant monster, ok i was down for whatever "MATT REEVES" thew up in front of me... including exploding torsos...
when i think i started to stand and BOO loudly (with about 100% of the theater I was in) was the end... why?
Hollywood has conditoned the theater going audience that a movie that is done FIRST PERSON POV will ONLY end with everybody dying... thats what we were conditioned to expect and thats what we got...
unfortunatly, thats exactly what i was expecting too, i halfway expected some other ending... some OTHER outcome.. rathr than say... everybody dying. but no...
plus the monster looked anemic and sickly and shouldnt EVER be compaired to GODZILLA.. theres a reason WHY he's called the KING of MONSTERS... (Godzilla is the King of Cloverfield too, by the way)
CLOVERFIELD SUCKED
CLOVERFIELD II: CLOVERFIELD vs MECHA CLOVERFIELD!
ROBOSAPIEN Begins Production in NO - Apr 08, 2008 - 07:44pm
exactly how BIG is the movie version of robosapien going to be? theres quite a big difference in scale when you're talking the real Robosapien that you see available at Best Buy compared to Short Circuit and Wall-E over Iron Giant
ROBOSAPIEN Begins Production in NO - Apr 08, 2008 - 05:08pm
wiseguy, I dont think Transformers belongs in a list that includes Short Circuit and Wall-E right?
Bowman Leading CASTLE For ABC - Apr 08, 2008 - 12:25pm
I dunno what a horror novelist would contribute to the NYPD though joey?
wouldnt they be better off with a forensics writer or courtroom lawyer novelist?
so Rob, just dont go naming your character Frank Castle and we'll have no problems, ok?
The Omega Man - Apr 08, 2008 - 12:15pm
squidward, Blood Diner is, in fact, currently playing on FEARNET on Demand on Comcast.
i wasnt sure about Day of the Dead either... I'm assuming its the ving Rhames version which is bypassing theaters in favor of DVD market. Surprisingly its attracted some top talent (for a direct to DVD schlop-fest) and, again on the merits of it going straight to DVD (only) it looks above average (for a movie that heads straight to DVD)
dont know why this flick holds so near and dear to your hear... I might check it out on principle...
Cartoon Network Upfronts Look Promising - Apr 07, 2008 - 01:10pm
DESTINATION TRUTH (SCI FI, 10PM EST) WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE
A search for giant anacondas puts the team in the Amazonian jungle.
thats funny, I didnt know Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton Ohio was in the Amazon? are these two shows going to do a team up?? LOL!
Remake Coming for SHORT CIRCUIT - Apr 06, 2008 - 07:50pm
i thought that a monoploy movie was announced... oh well, I could care less.
so what if they remade this and made Johnny 5 join the Police Academy? hey that would kill three birds with one stone, two new sequels AND it would an original Idea.
and to everyone thats wondering how this got green lit, its would make sense to compete against Wall.E at the box office near the same release date... can they get this done in time?
and I like the idea of having Ed-209 be the new johnny 5, I dont think that would stick with the kiddies... and yeah, doing any robot flick, the robots should be real robots and NOT cgi robot characters.
i think one reason that Short circuit had charm was that the designers got to show off exactly what a real robot was capable of... if they switched to CGI, it would seem like a cheat.
Ray Stevenson Talks PUNISHER - Apr 06, 2008 - 07:14pm
the Dolph Lungren was not a BETTER flick, it was more cheesy, Iron Eagle's Lou Gossett Jr starred in it also. Dolph never wears the skull emblem on his chest ...ever! (theres a cameo for the skull on the hilt of a knife...once)... Dolph's Punisher was... well its akin to saying you like French Vanilla Ice Cream from your local Ice cream Parlor, now French Vanilla pretty much tastes the same no matter where you go, you just like it better because its from your favorite store and not from say Baskin Robbins or Cold Stone.
make sense?
Ray Stevenson Talks PUNISHER - Apr 05, 2008 - 06:46pm
Lexi directed Jonnny Flynton and Hooligans..of course that makes her the perfect cantidate to direct Punisher: War Zone
by the way, has anyone actually seen Johnny Flynton? Its only 37 minutes long and stars Actor Dash Mihok as Johnny!!!
by the way, has anyone actually heard of Dash Mihok?
Ray Stevenson Talks PUNISHER - Apr 05, 2008 - 04:13pm
Thanks Joey B! the last piture I saw of Ray Stevenson was the Stevel Segal look-a-like... when did the smaller image come out? and has Lexi released any more pics from Punisher 2?
and SONYMAN... are you insinuation that Gung Ho was a flamer-boy Marine??? how dare you encroach on my childhood vision of Gung Ho like that! (especially with a name like SONYMANSwallows!!!!!)
Vader is No Superman & Hulk Madness - Apr 04, 2008 - 01:48pm
yes Machete... ok they should produce a full blown movie of "DONT!!" that would be rockin..
also Rob's Werewolf Women of the SS would rock hard...
Jarrod... your HTML editor left the font color HTML tag open after the HULK headline so the rest of the article is red.... i think it was a mstake. i mean i still like red and all but ya'know....
Righetti Deals with Jason in FRIDAY the 13th - Apr 03, 2008 - 10:09pm
well in all honestly, they cant really make a legit sequel to Jason X (also SONYMAN, they cant build off 'Jason goes to Hell', since thats also New Line Cinema and NOT Paramount) plus it would be lame to follow continuity after the space sequel... just have it set back at Camp Crystal Lake before the camp closed down... actually, if they were smart, they'd just have Cuba Gooding Jr. buy the camp outright and have it open up as a daycamp and have Jason jump out of the Lake on the first night the daycamp is open!
CLOVERFIELD Hits DVD April 22 - Apr 02, 2008 - 09:03pm
Calhob, the monster was pale white, anemic and sickly looking... if we've learned anything at all its that the Japanese did it best when they invented Godzilla, who could have kicked Cloverfield's ass in about 9 seconds.
The Action was awesome, the acting I've never complained about either... i agree on both points.
but you say "The ending was great...what else would you expect when watching what people taped? Stop needing to be spoon-fed everything."
what else what i expecting... well lets take for starters that i was expecting everybody who makes up the main cast to die at the end... thats what i was expecting and ..guess what? thats exactly what I got... WHY was I expecting this to happen? Because I've already seen Blair Witch Project and i actually thought that JJ Abrams had crafted a better ending than one I already expected.
And actually I can think of other endings... the military steps in and confiscates the video tape and quarantines Rob, Marlena and Lily at a medical base?
too tripe? try this one... the tape Hud was using reaches the end and stops after the big fight with the monster. Did they survive? We dunno.
I do know that i've watched lots of tapes that people made... and none of those tapes ended with the people dying... that doesnt make me want spoon fed garbage... its honest... they escaped.
Lets face facts, we were expecting them to die because we've already seen Blair Witch Project and we are condtioned by Hollywood into thinking there IS only ONE possible outcome for a situation such as this...death..
bullshit. Theres plenty of other endings they could have gone with, more creative than the way I played it out in my head 6 months prior to seeing Cloverfield.
Vampires Protect their Food in LAST BLOOD - Apr 02, 2008 - 03:55pm
didnt Jean Claude throw Dolph Ludgren into a combine at the end of Unversal Soldier? Is that what a Combine Soldier is?
A Horror Western From John Woo? - Apr 02, 2008 - 03:52pm
nobody cares about Metroid? LOL! j/k buddy.
Originally we were supposed to begin shooting in February '08 but it has been pushed [for a great reason which I am not at liberty to divulge quite yet] to August '08."
for a GREAT reason that he's unable to disclose??? Gheesh who rights the stuff anyway?
Sounds like the Actors are striking again.
TRANSFORMERS 2 Prepping for Production - Apr 02, 2008 - 03:47pm
hmmm any spies in Culver City? thats where these pics were taken... and honestly itdoesnt show or tell much... perhaps there was a convention of some sorts out there? Although i have to wonder why nobody threw a tarp over the Optimus Prime truck to keep off the gawkers....it WAS the #1 movie last summer, DVD sales are still hitting the ceiling, so naturally people would notice if you're transporting THAT truck around.... and THOSE Barracade police interceptors... hmm... surely a tarp would be in the budget right? Lets keep the scratches off?
whoah... such hostilities...I'm still waiting for my charbroiled aunt Beru and Uncle Owen remains!
