Ten-year old Ikki finally has his very own Medabot. But what a Medabot! Metabee talks back, won't do what Ikki tells him to, and worse yet, takes out the trash when Ikki's mom asks! Instead of fulfilling his dream of becoming a world-renown Robattler, Ikki is rapidly becoming the laughing stock of every Medafighter in town. With the city Robattle Tournament looming, Ikki and Metabee must learn to work together or face elimination. But the Robattle Tournament is the least of their problems. The Rubberobo Gang is new in town, and it's going to be up to Ikki and his friends to make sure that their evil plans are thwarted. Don't miss the continuing excitement in Medabots! Episodes 6-9: The Gimme Ghost, Cyandog Bites Back, For Better For Worse Part 1, For Better For Worse Part 2.The Review!
Life is busy for Ikke now that he has his own Medabot. Between the Screws, a group called the Rubberrobo Gang, plus the Citywide Robattle Tournnament, will he have the time to get Metabee to respect him?Audio:
Only the dialogue for the US TV series version is presented here. A simple stereo mix is provided, but there is no detectable directionality present. The soundtrack is clear though and no distortions are present.Video:
The video quality here is excellent, with only small amounts of line shimmering present in the video. I couldn?t find any other compression related artifacts. The brightness of the video isn?t overbearing unlike most children?s cartoons. There are overlays present through out the show.Packaging:
Metabee, Brass, and Medafighter X grace the green cover of volume two. A volume number is present on the front cover, spine, and back cover. The back lists the four episodes present on the DVD plus their US air numbers. A picture from each episode is on the back cover.Menu:
The main menu is static and features Brass with the introduction music playing. You can either select the start of each individual episode, head into scene selection, or choose extras. Scene selection features five different chapter points with video playing for each one.Extras:
The extras on this DVD are a list of all the major characters and Medabots in the series. It focuses on characters that appear in the episodes on the DVD. A short description of each character is also present.Content:
(please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
Ikki and Metabee continue to butt heads in their daily activities; Metabee is exteremly stubborn and doesn?t respect Ikki very much, while Ikki always believes he knows what?s right.
The first episode is The Gimme Ghost
and introduces us to the Rubberrobo Gang, a group of misfits trying to take over the world by stealing Medabots Medals. In order to do this, they scare kids in a forest and take the medals from their Medabots. Ikki, Erika, Karin, Koji, and Henry go to check it out.
In Cyandog Bites Back
, Samantha figures out the Screws record is so bad, because one member, Spyke, loses all her battles. She kicks him out of the Screws. Spyke is hopeless, and can?t win a battle at all. In his search for an easy opponent to fight, he finds a group of kids under five, called the Ankle Biters, with their own Medabot. This should be easy, right?
The last two episodes are a two parter called For Better, For Worse
that features the city Robattle Tournament. In order to prepare for the tournament, Ikki wants to give Metabee a tune up, but to do this he?d have to remove Metabee?s Medal. Ikki gets a spare body for Metabee to be in, but Metabee?s mistakes it for Ikki wanting to change Metabots. Metabee leaves to enter the tournament by himself, but can one Medabot win on his own?
The ?main villains? get introduced, and we have our first large Robattle Tournament. There?s some pretty exciting stuff here. This is a good selection of episodes to watch.
