What They Say
The love bug is on the loose and it's biting Medabots and Medafighters alike. How can you help but fall head over heels for the charming piano teacher Miss Mimosa? Her admirers are coming out of the bushes, but who's the one special man she has her heart set on? Then Ikki and Erika take Metabee to the zoo and discover that all the animals are stuffed with penguins! It's a massive breakout as they rescue the wilting penguins from the clutches of the Rubberobo Gang. Afterwards, take to the air as Ikki and Metabee help Femjet overcome a fear of flying brought on by an accident during an aerial acrobatics display. Finally, Koji and Ikki renew their rivalry over Karin at a costume party. And when the Rubberobo Gang crashes the party with their Medabot Mantaprey, Koji's fear of insects is at last explained. Don't miss four exciting, action-packed, all new episodes of Medabots!

The Review!
Love, penguins, aerial acrobats, and a giant mantis await us in the next volume of Medabots.

Audio:

Medabots comes mixed in only an English language stereo mix. All sound is directed towards the front sound stage and no directionality is present. No distortions were present and dialogue is clear.

Video:

Another great transfer from ADV. I couldn't detect any mpeg related compression artifacts in the encode, including line shimmering or cross coloration. Like all Medabots episodes, the color appears to be washed out slightly, but this is how the show was presented.

Packaging:

Metabee shares the front cover with the Rubberobo Gang. Behind them is a purple background with a familiar lightning bolt. The volume number is present on the front, spine, and back cover. On the back, all four episode titles are present with a two sentence description for each episode. Inside, the insert has the stats for Femjet, a Medabot that is in the third episode of this DVD.

Menu:

The main menu is static and features Medabee with the introduction music playing. You can either select the start of each individual episode, head into scene selection, or choose extras. Scene selection features five different chapter points with video playing for each one.

Extras:

The extras on this DVD are the same as the previous DVDs. There are fifteen character descriptions, and ten Medabot descriptions. Pretty bare as usual. I'd love to see the original Japanese opening and ending on the last DVD.

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)

Again, we have filler episodes since Nelvana changed the viewing order so that they'd all appear in a row.

First up, we have There's Something About Miss Mimosa that has some admirers pining for Ms Mimosa, who happens to be Ikki's music teacher. Couch Mountain, Suidguts, and the local florist, Mr. Richards all want to go out with her, but are too shy to come out and express their feelings. A rendezous is finally set in order for a confession to be made, but who scheduled it?

The Birds and the Metabees has the Rubberobo Gang opening up a zoo in order to make money to take over the world. There's only one problem, they only have hundreds of penguins so they?ve put the penguins in various animals costumes. With Japan's temperatures though, the poor penguins are wilting. It's up to Ikki and Karin to get those penguins back home.

Next up, we have Skyward Yo! where Dr. Aki is training Ikki and Medabee for their upcoming World Robattle Tournament. They go to visit the flying group of stunt pilot Kailey and her medabot Femjet, a flying type. But Femjet has lost confidence in herself after a crash and can't perform her signature moves anymore. Medabee will have to take to the skies in order to recharge her confidence.

Finally, there is Dance with the Mantis which has Koji trying to confess his love to Karin at the schools costume party. Anyone who knows someon going to Koji and Karin's school is invited, including the Screws who help themselves to the buffet. After Koji gets "bugged" about the matter though, he ends up confessing to Samantha!

These filler episodes are a lot more entertaining than the last bunch. Ms Mimosa is really adorable, and penguins are always cute. The costumes Medabee has to wear in Skyward Yo! are also fantastic. Great filler, if you're willing to check it out.
