Since it wasn't a comicbook movie, commenters here may not have noticed that Disney dumped the Narnia franchise simply because Caspian only gave them a "measly" 2 million dollar profit .  It's all about business for them.  That said,  Favreau will be back for IM3 and so will RDJ.

As for movies after that, I have a fair collection of Avengers comics and Ironman was only in half of them, if that. And half of that was Rhodey in the suit anyway thought they skipped that in the movie universe so that point is irrelevant...

GH changing musicians is the least important change/problem they've encountered...

I'm not entirely convinced ramming up GL 2 &3  will effect Deadpool much.  I think Reynolds would have realized something like this would happen when he signed on for GL...

Regardless of how much money the parent corporation has, they still don't want to throw it away. Even if you have a billion, why pay someone $4M if they'll work for $3M? I do think this "insider" is probably exaggerating quite a bit. I doubt things are as bad as all that.

WISEGUY- Dude you hit the nail right on the head! Favreau is getting a big head, and marvel did make him a successful director (well helped to make him successful) Before Iron Man he was a laughable talent. Even when he was hired to direct Iron Man i remember hearing the moans across the internets about him being hired. These directors should know their place. "Gee wiz they only want to pay me $3 million to sit in this chair and tell people what to do for a year or less. Well i need more moeny then that!"  I agree with you bud, Marvel knows exactley what they are doing! They will continue to make these great choices and the movies are just going to get better and better! RDJ OWES his ENTIRE resurrence to MARVEL. Only reason he has a career right now is IRON MAN! But yes after Avengers and IM3 he can go away and prolly will do blow again and the cycle will

I think I might have groaned when I heard Favreau was directing.  But the dude did rock the first one.  He did.  Not Marvel.  He made the movie.  That said, he just wants a piece of teh big pie they are getting.  But is he greedy, sure.

Just putting in a school of thought,  if you guys don't think marvel are being a bunch of tight asses here are some facts. IVariety reported in may that Chris Evans deal as Cap is one of the biggest scams in the business so far. He had to committ to 3 cap movies plus at least 2 maybe 3 avengers movies and he only gets 300,000 and that will be taxed. He can't work on any other pictures at the time because of the time comitment it takes to work on these and there's no guarantee he will become a megastar. Those movies are going to make bank and that kid just got humped.

Next is the fact that Stan Lee the co-creator of marvel's most successful stuff had to sue the company for royalties from the films a few years back. Why? Check out on youtube the 60 minutes special were they interviewed Lee after spider-man 2 came out and avi arad marvel's big producer at that time. Lee was paid a million dollars a year by marvel before taxes while arad had pulled in over 200 million in personal wealth off the movies at that time. Marvel are some greedy f-ers. Actors inflated saleries can crash a movie, don't get me wrong but some of these actors are getting screwed. And if you think favraue was "laughable" he had lots of cred in the indy world and had just started to break into the mainstream. That's why marvel went after him. Which seems to be their new MO get the most talented people not the directors that make the most money.

I love Marvel just as much as the next person but I also love DC and DC is in a unique position to start great franchises since they own all of their characters. I hope they get their $%^! together and give marvel a run for their money. Batman 3 2012 bitches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Time and time again the Marvel people sound like a bunch of douchebags.

Wow, u guys are full of inside information and stats. After everything i've been reading during the Marvel Studios era, and listening to my fellow maniacs, I have also come to the conclusion that the Marvel guys are indeed a bunch of cheapskate, money hungry, greedy bastards. It sucks for the actors, directors and any other potential talent that might get detoured in the future.

Especially cuz of what Shac2846 said. That Chris Evans thing definitely sounds like he got F'd in the ass by the Hulk's giant ding-dong. I'm annoyed and frustrated and I'm not even the one getting paid.   5-6 movies that will probably total over a Billion dollars together after EVERYTHING, and he only gets a piece of crumb of the pie? Geez. I guess that impenetrable shield can't block jizz shots to the face by Producers. lol

marvel blew it already. waiting for the DC justice league to blow up. Avengers will BLOW!

You guys are all NUTS!!! As a director myself, I can understand where Favreau is coming from. He took a B-list Marvel character and elevated him to an A-List status. He went through the same transformation as a director. He fought for Robert Downey for role otherwise we might have ended up with Tom Cruise. I don't where you guys get some of your facts regarding salary. When negotiations for IM2 were going on, he said that he made the minimum salary for a hollywood director on the first film. The minimum salary for a director is somewhere in the neighborhood of $350,000. How much money did IM1 make? The 2 films have made a combined $1,201,839,975. That's a lot of coin. It's not unreasonable that Favreau would want an increase in salary. These people give 2 years of their lives for a film working 12-14 hour days. When I do good work at my job, I request a pay raise. Don't we all? He's not being greedy. He just wants to be better compensated for his work and having to put up with Marvel's bullshit.

death4sale 8/6/2010 8:25:32 PM

Most of the salary stuff you guys got correct, but not in regards to Jon Favreau. And yeah, Chris Evans is getting the shaft.
