The prehistoric giant shark is officially out of the bag. CHUD webmaster Nick Nunziata revealed his involvement as a producer on a proposed live-action MEG film, based on the novel of the same name by Steve Alten.
"Yes we have a script and a director getting into the fold, but those details aren't etched in stone and therefore do not matter at this time," says Nunziata on his website. "As for studio stuff, I have nothing I can report right now as the film is only in the stages of infancy that are a fragile and unpredictable time for an idea."
The news first broke about the involvement of HELLBOY director Guillermo del Toro and producer Larry Gordon with MEG last month. Novelist Alten reported the development in his newsletter but didn't reveal Nunziata's involvement at that time, or that he was the individual to first option the film rights.
