The Review!
Well, let me start off by saying this DVD was done correctly from the start. From when you pop it in the player, you don't have to hassle with the menu at all, it is already in Japanese with English subtitles. That's right, a Streamline Picture release WITH subtitles. Since I've seen MZ 23 many, many times, so I only grazed through it so my review consists of that. Let me start off by saying that I own the Japanese LDs and have subbed it off LD so I know what the translations should be. Based on this, thumbs up to Streamline Pictures for good translations! There were some minor things here and there that could've been better, but over all the translations were solid that I saw.
Now on to the video and audio. The video quality was great, even better than the LDs! I didn't see any signs of artifacting of the scenes I watched. The colors were sharp and crisp for something as old as this title is. But the Japanese audio is only mediocre. It is in mono, but the English track is stereo (I just wanted to see how it was since I never saw it dubbed before).

Eve's songs sounded better on the English track since they were in stereo versus mono. HOWEVER, my big complaint is that they did NOT translate the songs. For me, that is no big deal as I can understand them without the translations, but for others, that may be something that gets annoying.

Now for the actual DVD. The packing is typical Image packing with the cardboard snapper that a lot of people hate, including me. The menu is decent, as it has chapter selection, audio, and subtitle selection. Not much else though...

Now for those of you not familiar with the story, it's about the lone survivors of Earth who are living inside a spaceship and are being brainwashed by a supercomputer to make them think that they are on Earth in the 20th century. A teenage punk discovers the truth and tries to reveal it to the people with the military trying to stop him. This is a must see for any anime fan! Fans of Macross will love this series! Eve's character design was done by Hirohiki Mikimoto, the same person who did the character designs for Macross, Gundam 0080 and many other famous works.
