Mel Gibson back for LETHAL WEAPON 5?

According to Rotten Tomatoes, Mel Gibson might be in talks to sign onto the film LETHAL WEAPON 5.

Rotten Tomatoes writes, "Word has it that the sobriety-challenged Mel Gibson has jumped aboard the production of "Lethal Weapon 5," which the actor-turned-director had, until recently (read: until the events of last week) not considered joining. But, since his Holocaust mini-series has been cancelled, Gibson's schedule has cleared up -- and it wouldn't hurt on the PR front to give fans another "Lethal Weapon."

Right on target ponyboy...Public Relations 101 here. Mel said he had no interest in acting and called the Lethal Weapon movies kinda silly. Interesting change of heart suddenly I see. I am looking forward to Apocalypto...LW4 not so much.

Actually this is a good trend . These characters are these people. Mel is Riggs , Bruce is Mclane and Sly is Rocky..Adam West well all kidding aside deserves some role in the next Batman. Maybe Bruces long lost Grandfather that comes back just in enough time to get wacked by the Joker and the Dark Knight gets pissed..I hope this does stay as the Trend when Star Trek 11 comes out . James T. Kirk Is William Shatner! We have already seen a young James T Jirk. It is called Star Trek TOS.

Mel used to be cool. Now he's become some wierd religious nut. The passion was absolutely the worst movie I've ever seen. It's several hours I will never get back of my life, and I sat through all of Dracula: Dead and Loving it. At least I laughed a couple of times during that. I'd rather remember the days when he seemed sane. Sorry Mel, no amount of PR is going to help your current image.

I agree. He wasn't drunk when he made the passion. That movie is just one big anti-jewish gore-fest.

I just wish he was doing Mad Max 4 instead of Lethal Weapon 5. The Lethal Weapon movies have just turned into parodies of themselves. But I think a 4th Mad Max would rock... His character was already old and falling apart at the end of Thunderdome, so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch.

You know, it's funny, but a major publication commented on how it'd be good for Mel to churn out a feel good action blockbuster to win back support...and now the announcement for LW5. Funny.

And blah, blah, blah...people DO say stupid stuff when they're drunk. But they also tend to adopt their father's viewpoints on life. Sooooooooo... Bah! I'll be in the theater to see LW5.

there are some series of movies and tv shows that just need to die. this is one of them. LW4 was crap. the only good thing was jet li. the rest of it was just crap.
