Melissa George will star opposite Josh Hartnett in the upcoming film 30 DAYS OF NIGHT for Sony.

Based on a Steve Niles graphic novel, the story is set in a sleepy, secluded Alaska town called Barrow, the sun sets and doesn't rise for over thirty consecutive days and nights. From the darkness, across the frozen wasteland, an evil will come that will bring the residents of Barrow to their knees. The only hope for the town is the Sheriff (Hartnett) and Deputy (George), a husband and wife who are torn between their own survival and saving the town they love.

The film will be directed by David Slade.

I wish someone would tear up this script.

I`m kidding. It actualy sounds pretty good. At least its not another WB teen horror flick or Asian remake.

I have read the original in TPB and really liked the story not sure about Hartnett but you never know. If you like vamps then you should like this hopefully they capture the shear terror that you feel for the residents during the story.

The graphic nocel is terific. I just hope the movie can match the tone of the graphic novel. I'm not a big Hartnett fan, but I'm really looking forward to this.

I didn't care for Hartnett's portayal as the Salesman in Sin City, but I'll still watch this movie. I like the 30 Days of Night graphic novels.

Actually, I like Hartnett. He was great in Lucky Number Slevin and as the Salesman in Sin City. I thought that they would have gotten someone a bit older to play that part, but Josh made it work.

PB76 - wasn't Slevin in the theaters for like a week? But I do like Hartnett.

Wasn't this movie talked about before but the evil was a pack of vampires?

I'd heard the evil that comes to Barrow is Uwe Boll in town to direct the Sea Monkeys movie.

Now, that is total horror at its best. Slevin was in theaters for like a week, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a good flick. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang had the same short run, but to me was one of the best movies I have seen all year.
