The Relationship Challenged

Date: Monday, March 3, 2008

Standup comedian Dane Cook and actress Jessica Alba team up in this hysterical comedy that shows us that not only is love imperfect, but sometimes it can get down right messy.

Charlie Logan, played by Dane Cook, is a successful dentist who is cursed by his relationship challenged demeanor with the women he "dates." Each one of his ex-girlfriends marries the next man that she dates. When women find out about this "lucky charm" they flock to Logan's office trying to win a date with the next to last man they will ever has as a boyfriend. Charlie, being male, doesn't mind being a lucky charm at first because he has never really loved any of the girls that he dated. In fact, he was never really heartbroken to see any of them leave and be married. Soon his extra curricular activities became too much to bare and were complicated by the gorgeous Jessica Alba, who plays a penguin zookeeper named Cam in the film. Cam sees through his good boy act right through to his tough guy interior and rejects the notion of ever dating him, though Cam has quite a curse of her own. She was blessed with clumsiness, and not oops I spilled coffee on my dress clumsiness. She is a major train wreck throughout the entire movie and what is best, she is great at it!

This flick mostly revolved around the romance between Charlie and Cam, but included enough zingers to make any Dane Cook fan happy about the ordeal. It contains some less than explicit sex scenes with Cook and the girls that decide to use him as a lucky charm.

All in all, a great film. It has everything a romantic comedy needs, sweet charm for the ladies and sex, jokes, and male remarks for the men.
