Sad word has come of the passing of director Herbert Ross.

Among his notable directorial efforts were such films as GOODBYE, MR. CHIPS (1969), Woody Allen's PLAY IT AGAIN, SAM (1972), THE LAST OF SHIELA (1973), THE SUNSHINE BOYS (1975),  THE SEVEN-PER-CENT SOLUTION (1976), THE TURNING POINT (1977), THE GOODBYE GIRL (1977), CALIFORNIA SUITE (1978), PENNIES FROM HEAVEN (1981), FOOTLOOSE (1984) and STEEL MAGNOLIAS (1989),

The cause of Ross's demised was not revealed. He was 74.

Our condolences go out to his family and friends.
