Official weekend box office numbers have now come in, Speed Racer is number 3 for the weekend...with 18.5 million dollars in box office receipts.Although a flop, I am reminded that The Wizard of Oz, Willie Wonka, and Tron, were all considered to be flops when they were first released. The Wizard of Oz only became a hit exactly a decade after it's initial release and the other two films became hits on television, video, cable, and later DVD...so there is an afterlife for fallen movies if they are truly great films. Is Speed Racer one of those films, I don't know, but I look forward to finding out in the years to come???Joey Baloney...don't you have something to say to me???

Hi Hoobs. The Wizard of Oz did fail initially, was pulled from release, and some 10 years later found an audience, and only then was it praised as a classic.
