Though I haven't been impressed with Bay's "The Island", I can only rejoice that Uwe Boll won't have anything to do with this movie.

Well, this could be good news. But i'll wait to see the trailers. Still, it is better then letting Toilet Boll direct it.

I love this sort of setting in a movie, but I fear the video game curse. Maybe Bay can make it work???

This type of movie is what Bay is Known for. A simple popcorn action flick. He should do just fine with it.

Skeptical, but warily interested.

What is the point of calling the film Prince of Persia if it going to follow a different story line than the game it is supposed to be based on?

I liked the resident Evil movies but wondered why did they have to change the story so much? The games themselves were structured with a very cinematic eye.

This entire phenomenon bothers me. Obviously someone, somewhere with the power to make it happen thought that these games told a decent story that may translate well into film. Then, a few years down the road, someone makes a film that has nothing to do with the original source material whatsoever. Think anything directed by Ewe Boll, Silent Hill, the previously mentioned Resident Evil games, etc.

I would really like to see a faithful adaptation, at least as far as plot is concerned, of a game made at least once. Lets see how that does at the box office before condemning all video game adaptations to mediocrity.

I agree, Kerrith. What's the point in purchasing the rights to someone else's IP if you aren't going to use it?

The description in the news post of "an adventurous prince who teams up with a rival princess to stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world" doesn't really do justice to the actual plot of the game. And I can accept MB as the director of Transformers but, for the love of the Gods, why Sands of Time?

Bay seems like a good directorial choice here. The Sands of Time movie needs to be visually stunning, something Bay can provide in spades. If they refocus the plot back to that of the game, I could see this being the best video game adaptation so far. Not like that means anything though...

The thing I hope for this film is that they really capture the agility and physical feats of the main character. Not using CGI like they did in Daredevil, but use real people doing crazy a#% jumps from building to building, through walls, and on top of baddies. More like the french film "District B13". I personally would prefer if they actually did a few comic book adaptations like that as well.
