One of my favorite authors. I think the best way to do this man justice is to redo Jurassic Park and The Lost World the way he envisioned them. Makes for a much better set of films.

You will be missed Mr. Crichton:)

This is a shame.  He was a very good author, even if many of his books were turned into terrible movies (timeline, Congo).  However, please proof read your articles before you publish them.  The book about global warming was called "State of Fear" not "State of Favor".  No need to insult the man's work by not taking the 2 seconds to look it up on his website, or even amazon to make sure you got it right.  why not just say "he wrote 'billy and the cloneasaurous'"

Damnit!  This disease has taken more people than I can remember, family, friends, etc.  Makes you wonder if the companies are dragging their feet on this cure because their making too much money off of the care and recovery of patients with this disease.  Anyways.  Sorry to hear about this.  I've enjoyed his work since The Andromeda Strain and will miss seeing his name on the new release wall at the bookstore.  For I did not know the man personally so I can not say that I will miss HIM, but I will miss the feeling of excitment everytime I hear that he's come out with a new book or one of his works is being optioned for television or movies.  Although I'm sure Hollywood will still be using his material, with out him there to help them translate or hold their hands it won't be the same.  Rest In Peace.

I will miss the wonder and awe that I got from reading your superbly creative writings. I am shocked that you were sick and hope that god is with your family in this time of hurt.  You have been a major inspiration in me beginning to write. You will be missed

also how will the development of JP4 go since he is listed as one of the writers on imdb.com? I wanted to see this movie made , but since the creator has passed, maybe it should not be made if he can no longer have involvement with this..

The dude made some great stories.  I really loved the Lost World, too bad Speilburg destroyed it.

I once saw an interview with Crichton, where he said he had never been in a room where he wasn't the smartest person.  That really rubbed me the wrong way, but I'll admit the dude was very creative.  He was a great story teller.

I don't think a lot of people knew he was sick...it says it was a private illness he was fighting.

Crichton was one of those rare writers who actually wrote about a WIDE variety of things and wasn't bogged down by writing the same stories over and over...if he wrote a thriller, he would follow it up by a sci-fi story followed up by a courtroom drama, etc, etc.  Not a lot of writers do that and are successful.

I hope they don't hold up his new book too long.  Release that...because his last one "Next" wasn't that good and I hope his last novel becomes his best (though its tough to top Jurasic Park).
