Microsoft extends Xbox 360 Warranty

I thought I reported this a few days ago, but it seems I did not.

For those of you who haven't already read this news elsewhere, Microsoft has extended the original 90 day coverage policy on their Xbox 360 system to one full year.

The action is a bold step and comes due to the original batch of systems experiencing a higher than normal rate of failure.

Microsoft will send out reimbursement checks to people who have paid to have their system fixed which should arrive within 10 weeks.

Customers can find more info here.

KJ's Take:  A great move, and one that was needed.  Kudos to the evil empire as they didn't have to do it.

My year old 360 works perfectly. I know I've never had a Sony console that worked this well.

That's a nice gesture.
I wish they'd spend more of their budget on quietening the cooling system and better supporting original Xbox games, however.

Bah, Humbug! For this deed, the evil empire deserved to be also called "stupid!"

Hail to the Apple Imperialists! Submit your souls to the arrogant power of the iPod!

Yeah, they didn't have to expand it to a year. My Xbox360 broke down after only one week (which is within the 90 days).

It doesn't read my games or DVD movies anymore. It reads music CDs just fine, but I don't need a $400 music player. The production date is from September of 2006 so it's not that early of a model. Luckily, they are going to fix it for free.... hopefully.

I want cartridges to make a comeback.
