I'll be putting the middleman in my netflix queue.
El superbeasto sounds pretty cool. Spongebob and scooby doo get dirty, HA!
WatchMen kicks ass! Long live Rorschach!

Last summer's under-appreciated comics-based TV series 'The Middleman' is coming to DVD. PLUS: 'El Superbeasto' is super stuck-o. Rucka hopes for 'Whiteout' trilogy. 'Watchmen' falls two more spots and Marc Guggenheim talks a bit about 'Green Lantern'. Sailing away with the starship angels, it's your Comics2Film 9.3.23!
Although the first film seems to be having trouble finding its way into theaters, comics creator Greg Rucka told MTV Splash Page that he hopes to see sequels to the 'Whiteout' movie.
"We’ve always thought that Carrie [Stetko]’s story had three parts,” Rucka told MTV News. “The third one — which was always going to be the last one — addresses the idea of how this woman who has had this very intimate relationship with Antarctica ends up leaving.
"The slogan for it was always ‘Carrie’s Leaving The Ice — The Only Question Is How,’" continued Rucka, "and we would show one of those big galvanized coffins being loaded onto a carrier."
Recent reports indicate that 'Whiteout' will finally be released into theaters November of this year.
Thanks to Antonello Blueberry for the submission.
A while back rock icon-turned-filmmaker Rob Zombie put an animated version of his comics series 'El Superbeasto' into production. Fans may be wondering what ever happened to that thing?
IGN chatted with Zombie who says 'The Haunted World of El Superbeasto' is actually completed and ready for release. However, the film has been delayed because of ownership and legal issues within the company that made the movie, Starz Media.
However, Zombie is eager for the fans to see it.
"It came out awesome," says Zombie. "That started off as this little tiny half-a-million dollar direct-to-video movie that expanded into this $10 million animated extravaganza. And it's awesome, but I don't have a release date yet. It's like an R-rated adult/monster/sex comedy. There's nothing really like it that I can think of. People always say like Ralph Bakshi's stuff, but…
"It's [more] like if SpongeBob and Scooby-Doo were filthy."
A quick notice that Shout! Factory has released the cover artwork to the DVD release of 'The Middleman'. For fans who missed it the light-hearted science fiction show aired on ABC Family last year. It based on the Viper Comics series created by Javier Grillo-Marxauch, who also produced the show.
The DVD is due out July 28th, with a premiere set for Comic-Con in San Diego.
Thanks to Javier's The Middleblog.
Newsarama chatted up Marc Guggenheim about the 'Green Lantern' movie. Guggenheim co-wrote the script for the film along with Greg Berlanti and Michael Green.
The writer couldn't say much about the film or the recent casting rumors, but he did tell Newsaram that the trio were making refinements to the script and "having a blast" doing so.
"It's a fan's take. We are all huge fans of the character," Green told Newsarama when promoting his new television show Kings. "Hal Jordan is interesting because there have been a lot of incarnations, but he does have this indomitable will. One of the other fun things about Green Lantern is this idea that you are joining something bigger and larger than itself."
Thanks to Antonello Blueberry for the submission.
'Watchmen' continues to sink at the box office, in spite of being in more theaters than any other current release. Here's the summary from Mania's box office report:
The same can’t be said for Watchmen since Warner Bros. made it known to the media that it had a price tag of around $150 million. In the comic adaptation’s third weekend of release, the Zack Snyder film found itself dropping to 5th place by pulling in only $6.7 million. Since the film has the highest theatrical distribution of the top 10 with 3,510 prints across the nation, the poor weekend numbers has it coming in with an average of only $1,916 per showing.
Mania takes a look at this week's 'Watchmen' DVD tie-in, which features the aniamted short film 'Tales of the Black Freighter' as well as the forty-minute faux documentary 'Under the Hood'. Click for the verdict!

Never got a chance to see middleman. Always wanted to but it was up against something else for my DVR time. Will be adding it to my collection when it comes out.
Rorschach Rocks as does the Watchmen.
I only have one thing to say about Watchmen. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Moore is SOOOOOOOOOO over-rated! Oh I guess that was Moore than one thing. Maybe it would have done better if the director wasn't so worried about Dr. Manhattan's big blue baseball bat! You know another movie where the director was overly worried about the character's virtual penis: Hollowman! Check it out, you'll see!
notafan, WatchMen is not overated. It's different from what people expect out of a superhero movie, and the majority of the people don't accept anything that is differnent. Not everything has to fit some sort of pre-made superhero mold like Superman or Batman.
It seems like I've been waiting for that Whiteout film for at least 2 years. Let's get it out there, Kate isn't going to stay hot forever.
Too bad about Watchmen. Never thought it would break records but thought all the hype about the greatest graphic novel ever would help it make a better showing. I saw it 2x myself. Hopefully the dvd sales will push it into the black.
I find it funny how now everyone that works on a superhero film seems to have been a fan all along. Not buying it, sounds like a p.r. move to me to be accepted by us fans
Zombie sounds like he's doing a Drawn Together concept for the big screen.
The Middleman is such an excellent show. For those who haven't seen it, it is a genre fan's dream. I haven't checked the ABC Family website to see if they are still running previous episodes. If they are definitely take a look. What the hell - I urge you to buy/rent the episodes when they hit DVD. You won't be disappointed and maybe with great sales a network will bring the show back. You listening Sci-Fly channel?
