What They Say
Knowing that Mija's preferred prey are restless teen-agers, Sara again sets out for battle, masquerading as a substitute school teacher. When she arrives at the school, Mija's power has already taken a hold over its students and orgies abound! But Sara is in for real trouble when she falls for Mr. Endo because Mija has her own plans for him! Will Sara escape with her life? What is the power of her pendant?

The Review!
After the first fairly interesting volume, Mija returns for another attempt to bring her dream to the human world.

Audio:
For our primary viewing session, we listened to this disc in its original language of Japanese. This is a pretty straightforward stereo mix with nothing going to the rear channels and only some minor directionality across the forward soundstage. Dialogue is nice and clear and we noticed no dropouts or distortions on either track.

Video:
Though released in 2002, there’s a considerable drop in video quality on the source side between this episode and the first one. While the colors continue to look good and the image is free of cross coloration, there’s a huge amount of aliasing. When the camera pans, it’s like steps across areas that should be smooth instead. It’s very noticeable and distracting, especially when coupled with a drop in animation quality. Straight lines are anything but when it comes to this episode.

Packaging:
Mija’s face pretty much is the main focus point in the large background section we see while Sara gets the foreground where he clothes are being ripped off of her while being covered by the logo. The back cover gives a full summary of what’s in the story and setting as well as a few animation shots. Some production information and the discs features are also listed here. As with all NuTech releases to date, there’s no insert in this release.

Menu:
The menu plays through a brief snowy sequence before it settles into the pentagram form with the discs selections and title with some of the music from the show playing. Menus are quick to load afterwards and moving around is quick and easy. The layout is the same as other NuTech discs, so you know what to expect if you’ve seen their releases before.

Extras:
The only extra included here is a two minute long video gallery that shows various stills from the episodes to music.

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
With the first volume of the series being pretty decent and doing something at least more interesting than the typical school style material, Mija became something that we enjoyed for the brief episode that was done. Apparently it went along well enough that another one was made, but mostly to try and cash in a few more bucks.

The second episode of Mija spends a few minutes of the beginning to basically recap the first episode and then highlight the mission that Sara is on to stop Mija from her plans of evil on Earth. Like before, she’s not keen on being a tool for Raphael, but she ends up doing what’s necessary. And once again, she finds herself being a substitute teacher at a local school. And that school is definitely going in the wrong direction. Things have gotten severely bad lately with a lot of sex crimes going on and the female student population living in fear.

Sara enters into all of this and tries to help out in a few areas, but finds herself becoming a subject of attack at one point. It’s only with the help of Mr. Endo, another school teacher, that she manages to break free before things go too far. But Mija’s spell is too strong right now, and more and more students are succumbing to her will. Things go from bad to worse as more students are attacked against their will and even Sara finds herself being trapped by them, as Mija sets up a situation where she gets to watch Sara be taken advantage of before she sets her plan to stake her through the heart in motion.

With only one episode to tell the tale and using bad animation and fairly ugly character designs, the neatness to Mija disappears quickly and we’re left with a show that’s pretty much just bad meaningless sex. With the animation as poor as it is, this works against it so much that it’s not even comical. If you liked the first Mija, keep fond memories of it and avoid this release.
