'Wanted' creator Mark Millar saw the movie version of his comic and...guess what...he liked it! Here are some SPOILERISH highlights of Millar posted on his message boards:

...the movie is literally 541 times better than I [even] remembered. The cut they had me out to tweak a few months back was brilliant and had me super-charged, but I will go down on record here and now and say this polished version takes action movies to a whole new level. It's not even about raising the bar anymore. After Timur, there is no fucking bar!!!

As you know, the super-villains become super-powered assassins where the backstory gets eliminated in favour of Timur's idea about the looms of fate. As producers on the flick, JG and I could have walked away but it really works and I think the changes in the second half make the story so much tighter, especially for a mainstream audience. It LOOKS like 50 guys spent 3 years talking about this and fine-tuning it into something special. The first half is identitcal to the book (and you'll have fun spotting the frames lifted straight from JG's art), but the changes made to the second half are great and I wish to fuck I'd thought of having the reveal about the Dad (and Wesley being the only guy who could kill him) shifted into the middle like they did because it worked so much better as the ending of the second act. This meant they got 100% action when Wesley raided The Fraternity HQ in the third act whereas we had all the chat to explain everything. Also, wesley's raid on the baddies makes the 10 pages of slow mo madness in the comic look like Sesame Street. James killing all the super-assassins at the end is pretty much my favourite movie moment ever. He and I were acting it out drunk at 1am last night. though fire-arms were sadly unavailable.

Also, fans of the fucking up the ass ending will have a little smile. I won't spoil it but the fact they even came close to this made me laugh.

As we were leaving the cinema and heading for the party, uber producer Marc Platt slung an arm around me and asked what ideas I had for the sequel. I told him no comic was ever, ever planned and he just smiled, saying he wanted this to be a movie franchise that would run and run. After last night, I hope he's right. You are going to fucking LOVE this.
