Millar Will Deliver New Pitch for SUPERMAN
By: Jarrod SarafinDate: Thursday, July 03, 2008
This last weekend, thanks to fellow Maniac Hanso, we passed along news to you that author Mark Millar was still interested in trying out a new story for Superman despite being clearly stopped last October by the comic conglomerates Marvel and DC. Click on the link above for the Friday story in which he talked to the Kentucky Democrat about his "love" for the character and the previous incident in October where he was denied the opportunity.
Well, he's still talking about doing a revamp of Superman. He has posted a new clarification of the comments above via his official messageboards. Here's what he had to say on the news.
That Superman news is interesting, isn't it? In the interests of clarity (because I'm sure this will be picked up somewhere) a very well known American action director heard about my love of Superman, approached my and asked me to team up with he and his producer to make a pitch for this. We've been talking for several weeks now and, if this is going to happen, we'll know by Christmas. He has huge pull at WB so fingers crossed. But this is nothing more than a huge US name pulling me into his fold and making me part of a package."
There you go Maniacs. Like this weekend's news, we're still left wondering if Millar will even be allowed to pitch this new idea with an "American action director". At last notice, DC/WB still has a deal with Bryan Singer developing a story with Legendary Pictures for Superman: Man of Steel and Mark Millar is still authoring comics for Marvel and some competitors.
