Last week we reported that the script for the movie version of Mark Millar and John Romita Jr's comic 'Kick-Ass' has been completed by director Matthew Vaughn and his collaborator Jane Goldman.
Now, CBR's Rich Johnston, who seems preternaturally aware of all occurrences in the Millar hemisphere, confirms that the project is in preproduction and an actor is set for the lead.
"It's been fully financed from his MARV Films company. All that's currently needed is a studio to distribute the finished movie, which won't exactly be too hard to find when 'Wanted' hits. And when news breaks on a certain actor they have lined up..."
Johnston does not name the actor, but 'Kick-Ass' focuses on a teenage boy (who lives in a vague facsimile of the real world) decides to put on a costume and try his hand at crime fighting. So far the book has run only two issues, but presumably Millar has a complete story arc mapped out which may or may not serve as the basis for the film.
