Millennium Films is developing a new adaptation of Alexandre Dumas' enduring tale of The Three Musketeers, which is looking to be an origin tale of the trio before expanding into four. Since Dumas novel is in the public domain, acquisition wasn't an issue. They're not the only classic tale getting a new launch from Millennium. The company is also re-imagining Robert E Howard's Conan The Barbarian and Red Sonja characters and overseeing a new Buck Rogers and Hercules adaptation. The trade also reports working on another Rambo project as well.

Plot Concept: The film will trace how swordsmen Athos, Porthos and Aramis first banded together. D'Artagnan, the last member of the eventual quartet, will either be introduced later in the first movie or in a second installment.

I liked the one from back in the day with CHarlie Sheen, Keifer Sutherland, Oliver Platt and Chris O'DOnnell...and The Musketeer was an ok movie too.... I would like to see maybe an updated version of this movie

I would not mind seeing the old Hanna toon stuff on Banana splits. I think they were trying to make a DVD set but there are lost ep's from series for whatever reason.

The Disney version with Kiefer, Charlie, & Oliver is still probably one of the best ones. Man in the Iron Mask was a good adaptation as well. These movies are usually fun, but it is going to take a lot to top the Disney one in my eyes.

The BEST version was the 1973 "original" The Three Musketeers with Michael York - Oliver Reed - Richard Chamberlain - Christopher Lee - Total Classic that spawned The Four Musketeers with the same actors as a sequal.

I like Keifer but he can't touch Oliver Reeds Athos.

I own the 1973, it's sequel (which was filmed at the same time, one of the first to do that I believe), the disney version, the musketeer, the man in the iron mask, and hell I think I even own something else with the three musketeers, but I can't remember. I'm a huge fan and I'm always up for another addition, but this sounds great. I'd love to see a story of how these three came together.

As for which I like the best, I don't know. The Disney is great, but the 1973 is really fun too, and of course Raquel Welch, how can you beat that hotness.

I'd like to see a modern version of the story. When I tried to reread the book a few years ago, it seemed like gang violence to me: fighting and killing to gain a reputation, collecting women, behind the scenes corruption, and big names on the take - not to mention the color wearing and constant talk of brotherly honor.

Little Nell that's an interesting idea. Doubt we're getting that with this version but I'd welcome that kind of take.

It's in the public domain so get crackin'!

I agree with dallas, the 73 version was the best. I wasn't a fan of the disney movie but that may be more because of Chris Odonell than anything else. Its hard to replace that cast from the 73 version but I thought the story was more entertaining.

I was surprised to see they mentioned working on a another Rambo...I thought it didn't do very well in America? 40 mil or something like that but they are going to continue them? I thought it ended in a very good way with him going home.
