Millennium Picks Up CONAN

After months of studios going back and forth over the option rights to Robert E. Howard's CONAN, the search is now over. When we last heard news of the project on June 28, New Line was in the top spot to pick up those rights. Apparently, something was lost in the shuffle between then and now because Variety is reporting that Millennium Films has acquired them and is now looking to begin production sometime next spring.

The plan from Millennium is to make a new series of films based around the mythical conquerer adapted from Robert Howard's novels.

This is the same production company behind the upcoming JOHN RAMBO installment and RIGHTEOUS KILL (a film starring Al Pacino & Robert De Niro as NYC detectives).

YES !!!! but everthing will be on the shoulder of the actor ! and who will be cast ? John rambo and RIGHTEOUS KILL have the particularity to bring veteran actor on the front line, but we all know arnie won t return....

I kinda liked all that old talk about a King Conan movie, where Arnie returned as a weatherd King Conan with his son... but this will do...

yayyyyy! yet another remake or 'begins' movie. That's all we need when the idea buck runs dry.

Even though it would be cool to see Conan again, just like Bruce Lee, it would be hard to find someone to replace Arnie and do it justice.

Give an actor enough steroids and this will work.

It might also help if the script had very few lines for the Conan character. Arnie had, what, 63 spoken words in the first movie?

Make Conan a big, imposing and near-silent straight man while his irrascible sidekick acts as his mouthpiece who sometimes feeds him funny lines.

Arnie had the original wow factor that can be replaced. Everybody was like 'holy crap' because they had never seen anything like this before. Now you can go to any gym and see a steroid freak grunting as he drops the weights to the floor in a lame attempt to grab everybody's attention. Yeah, Arnie was the original, anybody else would seem like a cheesy stand-in.

DJ Qualls, is that how its spelled? the guy from New Guy, would be perfect for Conan :)

Last year I began reading the original R. E. Howard Conan stories. If they want to do this right then they are going to have to pick someone who is not only built to meet the look, but also deliver the INTELLIGENCE of Conan. The man has quite the dialogue and can speak several different languages. The Conan movies did not do the character justice at all, but it is a fun series to watch.

Please please please do the new films justice to Conan's story.
