According to Variety, Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes) and Lauren Lee Smith have signed on to start in the upcoming thriller, Pathology.  They will join Johnny Whitworth and Alyssa Milano in the cast.

The film, to be directed by Mark Scholermann, follows a group of med students who hatch a scheme to see who can commit the perfect crime, one that even a fellow pathologist couldn't unravel.

Production is set to begin this May with MGM planning distribution of the film late this fall in North America.

I'm not actually hating the premise of this. It's something that, at least I, have thought about in the past.

Hey... They should just call OJ... oh wait, we did unravel that one... he just got away with it.

I hope this won't conflict with shooting on Heroes. But otherwise, this is a tricky sort of film. Needs to be done carefully and cleverly (Don't make it so obvious you insult the audience, but don't make it so detailed and arcane the audience spends 90 minutes lost in a forensics class lecture), and if so, could be a moderate success. Should fit in nicely with the CSI crowd.

This just sounds too much like CSI, Bones and any one of the other TV shows for me to get excited about it. I know the industry is trying to push Milo as the next "it" guy, but he has about as much charisma as a wet blanket.
