Miramax wants Swedish helmer Mikael Hafstrom to make his English motion picture debut with the psychological thriller DERAILED. The film is about a mid-level ad executive whose life takes a turn for the worse when he is seduced by a woman he meets on a subway train. The story is based on a novel by James Siegel; the film rights to Siegel's story were picked up by Miramax in March 2003.

Hafstrom has made a number of Swedish crime dramas and thrillers including a 2003 movie titled EVIL.
