Miramax sneaks next POKEMON film
By: Chris WyattDate: Wednesday, July 10, 2002
Miramax Films used the 2002 Anime Expo, held last weekend in Long Beach, California, to offer fans a sneak peak at the next POKEMON movie, entitled POKEMON 4EVER. Fourth in the POKEMON film series, the feature will debut "rare and legendary" pocket monsters by the names of Celebi and Suicune.
The fact that Miramax is releasing the film is interesting in that all previous POKEMON films were distributed through Warner Brothers. That deal seemed only natural since the POKEMON television series plays on the Kid's WB line up.
A representative of Miramax attending the Anime Expo refused to answer questions about what deal lured the POKEMON franchise away from Warner's. Miramax did, however, screen for fans an exclusive trailer of the upcoming film.
