The busiest man in Hollywood just added one more thing to his plate. Variety is reporting that the JJ Abrams produced sequel to Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol will arrive on December 25th, 2015. That is exactly one week after the arrival of Abrams Star Wars: Episode VII

“Cruise will reprise his role as spy Ethan Hunt, though fellow agents Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton and Simon Pegg have not yet been confirmed to return to the franchise”.

The script for MI:5 is written by Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3) and Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher) will direct.

sweet. more times than not, these movies knock it out of the park, the last two especially. I'll keep liking them until I don't.

Not a fan of Drew though IM3 wasn't horribly written I just didn't like where he took the story., but Reacher was good so looking forward to this.

I hope they bring back the same Director from the last film .

Looking forward to this. This series is one of the few, if not only, that actually gets better each movie.

The last Two were awesome! I doubt Brad Bird comes back for this one. I wonder just how involved Abrams, can actually be as a producer on MI:5? Isn't his plate a little full right now? Hell, he probably doesn't even know. Ha Ha

I'm still pretty sad with this franchise. When it started, the idea was a completely different creative team but with the same actors for each film. Each film was intended to have a completely different "feel". That's why - storytelling wise, not story-wise - there's such a HUGE difference between the first and second. But the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th have all had a pretty basic feel, standard action movie stuff. With Abrams still producing, I can't imagine a lot will change with this one.

Now, before anyone starts a hate campaign against me, I've enjoyed all of these films, and "Ghost Protocol" was amazing! But the concept they started with, the plans for what could have been, just leave me disappointed that they gave up on that idea.
