So long Mary Jane, we won't need you messing up the intricate webs of Peter Parker's hormones. So says Sony Pictures with their planned reboot of the Spider-Man saga. After a decade of seeing Sam Raimi's vision circle around the webslinger and his iconic girlfriend, Heat Vision reports that producers and director Marc Webb will be meeting with some young female thespians this weekend for the chance to star opposite Andrew Garfield in their remake of the classic comic hero. And those actresses won't be trying out for MJ.
Beyond saying that Jane isn't the character vying for Peter's attention, the trade doesn't specify whether this weekend's audition is for Gwen Stacy (played by Bryce Dallas Howard in Raimi's Spider-Man 3), Black Cat's Felicia Hardy, or some new character that piques the love interest of Spidey.
They do say who's in the running for this new role though and it's not the previously rumored Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Instead, it's being reported that Imogen Poots (Fright Night), Ophelia Lovibond (Nowhere Boy), Teresa Palmer (I Am Number Four), Lilly Collins (Priest) and Emma Roberts (Scream 4) are all set to try out for the mysterious new part.
We have pictures below so you can speculate on whether it's Gwen Stacy or the Black Cat being cast this weekend. And when Sony confirms the casting, we'll update this of course...
Which will be cast? Sound off below!
