Free 3-D Software
(Sat 03/08/2008 04:08pm)
If you are interested in working with 3-D software here is a free program called Daz 3-D and you can get another one made by the same company called Bryce and I believe the only version of bryce that is free is the 5.5 version...Both are really cool programs...Check it out and when you download and then set it up it will ask you for a serial number which you will then have to go too the site and get it, very easy stuff...You might have to set an account first but that takes like 2 or 3 minutes...If you are asked who told you about this free software tell them Michael Laforce sent you...Have fun and good rendering...
Oh, by the way here is where you can download...http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/software/studio/-/download?&_m=d

Are you interested in 3-D software
(Sat 02/23/2008 02:05pm)
I have been using 3-D software for about 4 years now, I use Maya, Poser, Carrara, Vue, Cinema 4, Daz and allot of Bryce...I use Maya to create models and use those models in my other programs but I mostly use Poser, Carrara. Daz and Bryce...The reason I bring this up it that, if you are interested in learning and want to create art and even animation There is a site that gives you the software for free and a decent package of models to go with it, you actually get two different programs for free, the first one is Called Daz 3-D and the second one is called Bryce 5.5 now the newest bryce is not free but the 5.5 is, and they are really easy to learn and are fun to play with...Here is the link to the site http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/software/studio/-/download? you may have to create an account and it is fast and easy...Once you do go to your account and look in the downloads section and you will see the bryce 5.5 program, down load that and have fun....
I bring this up because we love our genera's here at Mania and creating images of those genera's is a fun and exciting thing to do...If they ask who sent you put down Michael Laforce...When you download these programs you have to agree to a few certain terms, one of them being, you have to tell at least 2 other people about Daz 3-D although I have used Daz for a long, long time I am now telling 2 people lol...Anyways I will be posting my art in my images section here shortly and you can see what can be done with this software...

A mixed bag of thoughts, I'm a half breed Geek...
(Sun 02/17/2008 01:35am)
How ironic it is that this is one of my most visited sites and I know nothing to very little about most of the content, as far as Comic books and Cartoons are concerned that is...
During the time that most of these Comic/Cartoons where popular or becoming popular (which was during the early to late 80's) I was doing sports or spending most of my time out doors or reading...I lived on the edge of a dessert and a mountain range, so needless to say I was exploring miles away from my home and would be gone from the time the sun come up until it went down...I believe most of my cartoon watching was on Saturday starting around 5 am until around 8 am and then I headed out the door...That's why you will hardly see me post here unless it has to do with movies/ books I have some kind of knowledge about...
Now I did love movies when I was a kid and the Ten Commandments was my favorite of all time and unfortunately I had to wait for the one time during the year they would put in on t.v. then my step dad took me to these old fashion movie theaters that played only Hitchcock movies on Friday nights and I loved them but it was not until Raiders of the lost Ark came out and then E.T. and the Star Wars Movies that I really fell in love with Cinema...
Now with comic/cartoons being turned into movies these days I guess I should feel fortunate enough too not have allot of knowledge and can go into the theater without any preconceived ideas or notions and can enjoy them for what  they are with the exceptions of bad camera work, angles, cgi, writing, pacing and a number of other things that have nothing to do with the content itself...Am I the only one with little knowledge about such things in the Comic book/Cartoon world? Do I feel as though I have lost something from my up bringing no, but there are times I do feel a little lost when I come to this site and reads it's content and therefore feel like a half breed geek...

My trip across America
(Tue 02/12/2008 01:28am)
Hello mania friends...I am going on a trip across the states on my Mountain Bike filming a documentary about the places I go and the people I meet...If any of you are interested in hooking up with me and have any interesting or unique stories I would be glad to hear from you and stop by when I am in the area...I am traveling from Maine down the east coast and then traveling the route that Chris McCandless took into the western part of the states and then head up to Alaska and stay in the bus he eventually died in for about a month which is a month shorter than what he stayed...So if anyone is interested in talking about it just let me know and we can go from there...
