Last month, it was revealed that MASTERS OF HORROR would be getting a primetime network adaptation of the series titled FEAR ITSELF. The same creators behind the Showtime series would be leading this new anthology on the big network. After the announcement, skeptism ran high with horror fans that this could work on a primetime tv network slot. The issue was addressed at Spike TV's Scream Awards, reports Bloody Disgusting. Executive producer Mick Garris and Lionsgate are reporting that this series will be releasing bloodier versions--unedited and uncut-- on DVD format in 2008. This same strategy was used for the MoH series.

It has also been revealed that the same horror icons behind the Showtime series will be leading this new anthology. Tobe Hooper, Stuart Gordon and John Carpenter are already set to direct some of the first 13 episodes with more announcements coming soon.  Also, one Stephen King story will be adapted for the series and 30 DAYS OF NIGHT creator Steve Niles will be writing another episode.

I'm more interested in the uncut, unedited DVD versions of the new series when they come out. They should just skip putting it on NBC, and release it as a DVD series, which is what Masters of Horror was originally supposed to be.
