I think this sounds fun. I love this idea. Hopefully they did it will and I'll be there.

Magnolia Pictures has revealed a new UK quad for Gareth Edwards' upcoming alien tale Monsters and Digital Spy was kind enough to pass it along. Check it out below and a bigger version at the link above. You can also watch some behind-the-scene action released last month. Set to hit limited theaters around Halloween, the film stars Scoot McNairy and Whitney Able from a story shot and penned by Edwards.
Plot Concept: Six years ago previously, a NASA probe returning to earth with samples of an alien life form, crashed over Central America. Soon after, new life forms began to appear, and half of Mexico was quarantined as an INFECTED ZONE. Today, the American and Mexican military still struggle to contain "the creatures"... The story begins when a US journalist agrees to escort a shaken American tourist through the infected zone in Mexico to the safety of the US border.

It's got to be better than that sub-low budget paranormal-activia garbage. I commend this young filmmaker, for trying to shoot and produce quality on such a short budget and schedule. His concept, for the story, while hardly unique, is not often used. I'm curious to see how this works for him. Hope he's able to line up a US distributor.
He is wrong about one thing: Pro-sumer HD, blown up to standard theater screen sizes tends to look soft and and blocky. I don't know of any current cameras at this level that can capture SuperHD. But, he is actually using professional cameras and lenses, The kind of which many televsion series and TV stations use. It's the lower end of Professional Digital HD, but easily within the realm of affordability. However, if he's shooting at 24fps and using film emulation filters and effects during editing, that can give video footage a nice natural look. He must have one heck of post production guy.
Based on the plot I would check this out. Just hope it doesn't come off like a syfy channel Saturday night special
It sounds good, but from what I've heard...the "monsters" are basically giant walking land squids, and are hardly even shown. It's supposedly more of a drama than anything. Think more along the lines of a cross country Cloverfield.

From what i'v seen i will support this ...i enjoy indie movies if done well.. seems these day's "Blockbuster and Movie Gallery" are littered with low quilty b movies that aren't worth viewing at all...
Sounds like a mix of a quarantine, alien and Jurassic Park movie! Cool!
