With a date change, we now have a few more weeks wait until George Clooney’s The Monuments Men arrives in theaters. Date changes are never a good thing, but I am still hopeful for this WW2 film. If anything, the delay gives us a chance to read the book by Robert M. Edsel and Bret Witter.
Synopsis: Based on the true story of the greatest treasure hunt in history, The Monuments Men is an action-thriller focusing on an unlikely World War II platoon, tasked by FDR with going into Germany to rescue artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves and returning them to their rightful owners. It would be an impossible mission: with the art trapped behind enemy lines, and with the German army under orders to destroy everything as the Reich fell, how could these guys – seven museum directors, curators, and art historians, all more familiar with Michelangelo than the M-1 – possibly hope to succeed? But as the Monuments Men, as they were called, found themselves in a race against time to avoid the destruction of 1000 years of culture, they would risk their lives to protect and defend mankind’s greatest achievements.
The Monuments Men opens on February 7th, 2014.

Movie looks to be entertaining, but it's becoming increasingly hard to watch anything involving Clooney and Damon, given their propensity to endorse incredibly stupid and destructive leftist ideas and politicians.

... their public personas have a bad way of superimposing themselves onto the screen. For entertainment purposes, the less the public knows about an actor's private life and voting habits, the better.

Fighting right wingers in movies, like this one, and real life.

And for the record I can't watch a Clooney movie because I don't care for him as an actor.

Meh, I liked this better when it was called Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark and its sequels.

Plus those fit much better with the site

I always find it interesting that a company will make a claim to open a movie at a set time and then change their minds with no concern to any consiquences

This movie is based on actual events, and despite what you think of the actors polotics you should see this. Their polotics have nothing to do with the film, as the film covers a very critical but not well known part of the war.

I've met the author, read the book and it will be a great film.
