Moon Knight Figure

Diamond Select has announced the next Marvel Select action figure will be the Fist of Khonshu - Moon Knight. The figure is based on the artwork of New Avengers' David Finch.

The Moon Knight figure will have multiple points of articulation and be in-scale with past Marvel Select figures. The figure will include a deluxe base featuring a full-size statue of Khonshu.

Marc Spector was imbued with the moon's mystic powers by the Egyptian spirit, Khonshu. Having left his mercenary past behind, he began to use his wealth and newfound powers to battle criminals and terrorists as Moon Knight. His super-hero lifestyle proved too much at times, leading the costumed warrior into periods of inactivity however the Spirit of Khonshu proves too difficult to ignore and Moon Knight returns to his calling as the Fist of Khonshu.

Why would you give this character an action figure? The lamest attempt to rip off Batman ever to grace the comic page.

Beyond the "wealth", crescent boomerangs (ie. batarangs) and vigilante aspects of his character the similarities between the two are superficial at best.

If anything, Moon Knight's genesis is more of an homage to The Shadow than other character (ie. using multiple identities is straight out of classic Shadow lore).

But that being said, the Egyptian mythos angle really lent a lot of uniqueness to the character - primarily his constant stuggle with the controlling force of Khonshu.

He's a character (albeit, a minor one) with considerable depth. And frankly, that costume is wicked cool. ;-)

I don't know how you guys and ladies interpret this article but when I read "The figure will include a deluxe base featuring a full-size statue of Khonshu" that means to me they are promising to include a FULL-SIZE 1:1 ratio of the statue Khonshu!

Either the person writing up the article was a little over enthusiastic or it's the company for promoting the figurine with over blown statistics.

Mind you if they are going to include an actual full-size statue of the Egyptian mythical god then that is going to be kickass cool! But I hate to glimpse at that price tag! :-)

I really liked Moonnight as a comic. I agree that he was more Spirit and Shadow like than the Bat. It would be cool to see him on the big screen.
