Moore on more BATTLESTAR GALACTICA

The Galactica 2003 website has published a report today that "according to a handful of sources, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA has been given the greenlight for series."
Nevertheless, with it being nearly the end of January (which is supposedly the time all the GALACTICA actors have been put on retainer, pending Sci Fi Channel's decision to pick up the series or not), no official announcement has been made on the fate of the re-imagined BATTLESTAR. In fact, just four days ago Galactica 2003 interviewed showrunner Ronald D. Moore and he didn't have an answer for the fans yet: "I just spoke with the studio today and they're continuing the, its sort of all financial, budgetary discussions that are way above my head," Moore told the website.
As we reported earlier this month, a trusted source told us that the new GALACTICA was on the verge of receiving an order for at least six episodes from the Channel. Earlier today we received a scoop from a different individual, one that we do not know and as thus cannot vouch for their integrity as we do for the former scooper, telling us essentially what Galactica 2003 is reporting today. One new piece of information related was "Although the official word may not be made until later today, tomorrow, or even the next day, the people behind the scenes...are preparing for a six (hopfully full 22) episode season."
Again it needs to be stressed that no official word of a pickup for the new BATTLESTAR GALACTICA has been issued, and that this new scooper's identity and integrity remain unconfirmed. As for the six episode rumor that we reported of, Moore had this to say to Galactica 2003's reporter: "I've got some e-mails about the rumors as well, that there was a 6 hour pickup, and none of its true, I mean, they haven't made a decision. I just spoke with the studio today and they're continuing the, its sort of all financial, budgetary discussions that are way above my head."
But Moore isn't waiting for the official word to come down before writing the future adventures of the 50,000 human survivors of the Twelve Colonies. As Moore says on the site, "I've written essentially the first episode, its nearly complete, and I've written an extensive story - series bible, and outlines for the first 3 or 4 episodes, and I've stroked out the character and story arc for the first season, but that's about as far as I can do until they pick it up."
Got a scoop? Know something that you need to tell us about? Send it to us!
