More Ant-Man Rewrites

The nightmare continues

By Robert T. Trate     July 08, 2014

Will Ant-Man arrive on July 17th, 2015.
© Marvel Comics is reporting more depressing news on Ant-Man. The film, which is clearly hip deep in development hell, is now in negotiations for new writers. Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, currently working on Sony’s reboot of Sabrina The Teenage Witch, are attempting to take a stab at the script.
Is it time to pull the plug on Ant-Man? Can Marvel makes its July 2015 release date?
Synopsis: The film follows a biochemist Dr. Hank Pym using his latest discovery, a group of subatomic particles, to create a size-altering formula. Though his first self-test goes awry, he develops an instrument that helps him communicate with and control insects. Paul Rudd will play Scott Lang/Ant-Man and Michael Douglas stars as Hank Pym.
Ant-Man is written by Joe Cornish (Attack the Block) and features Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Patrick Wilson and Corey Stoll.
Ant-Man arrives July 17, 2015 (probably not going to happen).

Ya, endless re-writes seem to never be a good sign.  But at least it shows they are worried about the project.

xenomorph 7/8/2014 10:02:05 AM

This whole project has become one big clusterf@#k. Just pull the plug.

CyanideRush 7/8/2014 11:20:03 AM

Don't pull the plug. Admit HUGE mistake, *publically* beg his forgiveness, then bring Wright the frak back with 100% full control. Or pull the plug.

Hopefully, things will turn out alright. It looks confusing from this end though. But you have to remember Gone With The Wind and The Wizard of Oz had loads of re-writes and had directors Victor Fleming and George Cukor trading back and forth working on pieces of both films.

I'm tending to agree with xenomorph ^^^.  Pull the plug.  Or at least wipe the slate, start over, and aim for a Summer 2016 release.

Did someone say Superman was going to be The Atom in the next series of Arrow...

Let's get this news to the masses!

Yeah Brandon Routh is playing Ray Palmer, whom will be Felicity's love interest and run Queen Consolidated.  I pass the scoop on and it was ignored (surprise) by this site in favor of the 20th trailer for the new Guardians movie.  heh

As for the new writers, they said they are merely punching up the script and it is no big deal.  This, they say, happens all the time...and the guys will be staying on through production, to punch dialog up as needed.  This is much ado about nothing.

A movie about a guy who uses sub atomic particles to create a size altering formula and then developes an instrument to communicate with and control insects.  I hope Ferrari and Barrer can write comedy because the plot is hysterical...and Rudd is one of the better comedic actors out there. didn't  just compare this to Gone With the Wind and The Wizard Oz?

monkeyfoot 7/8/2014 7:21:02 PM

Well I was going to compare it to Lawrence of Arabia and Ben-Hur but those movies just weren't good enough!

Daybreak0100 7/9/2014 2:47:14 AM

This will somehow be Paul Rudd's fault because fanboys are horrible.
