No More FANTASTIC FOUR??

By: Jarrod Sarafin

Last summer's sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer may have been the last in that particular franchise, so says co-star Chris Evans. While we've had quotes about the confidence of a third film from co-stars Jessica and Michael in terms of what they want for their characters, it seems the man who plays the Human Torch thinks the franchise is done for Fox, reporting MTV.

"I'm pretty sure we won't do [another] one," Evans said. "I'm assuming that one is a closed book."

Evans says that radio silence from the studio in the wake of 'Silver Surfer' tells him that nobody's clamoring for a third film. After the first movie Fox was informing the cast of potential plot lines for the sequel immediately. At this point, almost a year after the second installment, Evans says he's heard nothing from Fox.

So how hard is the actor hit by the prospect of Flaming Off permanently? "It takes up a lot of time. It's a big commitment," he said. "I'm happy with walking away."

Sidenote: There are rumors that Fox wants a stand alone Silver Surfer movie in production soon.

Even though the FF movies were not up to the standards as say Batman Begins, they were watchable and far better than the ones produced in the 90s. With Miss Alba soon to be a new mommy, I think that that would push a third movie away for a while. However, it would make the studios money and that might change their minds.

Skrulls, anyone?

Alba can bugger off for all i care, she was the worst casting decision ever made. They should of kept with Lara Cox, from what i heard she was in contention for Sue as well.

This is very, very good news indeed.

The 2nd movie was a Box Office litmus test, to see if the returns would amplify the take of the first one. Fox thought they built the audience for it with the first FF. This reminds of the Tomb Raider franchise...it really hinged on the performance of the 2nd film. I was honestly surprised a sequel was green-lit, let alone so quickly.
I thought these were watcheable, but had too many cringe-inducing moments. I think they could have been much better in the hands of another director.
Then again, my money is on Fox making a 3rd one, likely with a cheaper budget, to elevate it to that 'Trilogy' status, and make some money on the home video market. These FF movies were profitable.

Both movies were great. This is bad news. I was sure it made it's money from BO and DVD. Maybe it will just take a few years to make another is all.

They were ok movies, but I consider the source material an ok comic. I think they were faithful to the comic. These movies never had a chance of being Batman Begins, or even X-Men because those two are just superior properties to FF, and if done right on film (and they were) FF wouldn't be able to stand a chance.

Anyhow, I would have happily watched more FF movies, but my day isn't ruined over this.

Tim Story needs to stick to comedies and not high profile superhero franchises. Let this franchise die for a few years, send it over to Marvel and have them bring to the big screen with a better director and cast. The cast wasn't bad, but Jessica Alba and Dr. Christian Troy didn't do it for me as Sue and Doom. Dr. Doom sucked ass.

Hopefully Fox gets Silver Surfer made.

I'm not shedding any tears over this news. These films could of been better. Just bury them like a cat turd and come back to them a few years from now with a new cast and decent story, something without Doom in it.

How about a Ghost Rider sequel? I enjoyed GR far more than either of the FF movies.

I never though I'd say this but, THERE IS A GOD!!

No more FF is the one and only proof there is a god. Now, I don't want this thread to become a FF bashing but, this news really prooves that these movies were not well done, not well acted and as much as Jessica Alba is pretty, she wasn't the best choice for the movie in my view.

The 2nd movie was so bad, it made the american version of Godzilla a masterpiece compare to that.

It is surprising though with all the comic movies coming out these past few years, you would think that the standards would be very hight and the commitment on making a good story would be excellent but, the FF movies goes into the same pile as Daredevil, Elektra, Ghost Rider and the Hulk.

Good ridence.
