No More HALLOWEEN or Remakes For Zombie

The writers over at Entertainment Weekly had a chance to ask director Rob Zombie about his immediate plans after his recent HALLOWEEN hit the #1 spot at the box office this weekend. While the director saying "No more Halloweens" isn't surprising since he's been saying that before even stepping behind the camera for the film, his quote does say something. He's determined not to adapt any more remakes in the future and there is no guarantee that his next two films for Dimension will be the horror genre...

"I'm not going to do any more Halloween movies, or any more remakes of any kind. I signed up for two more pictures but not two more Halloween pictures," Zombie tells EW. "They're going to be original stuff — and I don't necessarily know that they're going to be related to the horror genre either."

HALLOWEEN broke the 4 day Labor Day weekend record pulling in 31 million in receipts.

Thanks to Mania scooper, Snallygaster, for passing this bit along..

Good riddance. He already screwed up one remake... glad to see he won't be screwing up any others.

His next film will be a drama, about a young white-trash kid with aspirations to become a rock legend.

Then after that, he'll do a movie -- this time a comedy -- about a young, white-trash girl who gets into some prestigious school. But things get tricky when her classmates find that you can take the girl out of the trailer park, but not the trailer park out of the girl.

But in all honesty... I think Zombie's a nice guy, and he does a damn fine job directing set designs and SOME aspects of cinematography. But his ability to write anything above middle-school wanna-be-tarantino, too risque for the public dialogue is a real problem.

Maybe he should direct from some one else's script this time? There might just be a solid filmmaker in him; one that's being held back by a flunkie screenwriter.

this comment is for that Brendan dude at the very top...first of all, why did u see Halloween if u thought it would be crappy?
Secondly, u probably have a bad taste in movies. Rob Zombie did a great job. Thats the way Halloween should of been made.
So keep ur comments to your self..

Rob Zombie makes horrible films.
His Halloween was pretty bad.
Better than X-Men The Last Stand, but that ain't saying much.

And the purpose of these articles and the ability to add comments is for people to share their opinions, MidNightFan - attacking someone for their opinion and telling them to keep quiet are not sharing your opinions, it is simply telling others that only your opinion matters.

Jesus F***ing Christ, this is going to be another of those bizarro moments. Zombie's "Halloween" was not only really cool, it's worlds better than the original. Merin, where do you even get off comparing a movie about a serial killer to a third installment of a series about super powered individuals? I still say that EVERYBODY here is WAAAAAY too hard on "X3", the ONLY reason you all hate it so much is because you're allowing your hatred for Brett Ratner transfer over...just like everybody's love for Bryan Singer BLINDS them from just how shitty "Superman Returns" actually was.

Just so everybody here knows I'm not a blind Zombie fan, I really didn't care for "House of 1,000 Corpses", but I thought "The Devil's Rejects" was pretty good, and "Halloween" was great.

You're all INSANE...yes, sorry, that's me attacking people for opinions, but I honestly cannot comprehend some of you sometimes.

You guys would think I was living under a rock or something, but I haven't actually seen the original Holloween until a couple a months ago. I always figured I'd get around to seeing it, and that was back in the 80s when I was figuring that. Anyway, the MonsterHD chanel has been playing it repeatedly over and over and over and over again.

I figure I'll get around to seeing the remake sooner or later. :/

I hate Horror Films, save for the original Halloween, The Birds, Fright Night, Jaws, Nightmare On Elm Street, Aliens, Steven Spielberg's Dual, and the remake of The Thing!!!

Now, scare movies...like the old 30's Monster films, stuff like Dracula, The Wolf Man, The Invisible Man, Dr. Jeckle and Mr. Hyde, The Mummy and even the 50's I Was A Teenage Werewolf, they were all really fun...and scary, but avoided a lot of the unnecessary gore and shock value, just for shock value, that so many modern movies have.

The Horror Film genre that has evolved from these films, the stuff of today, is just sick...without value or redemption. This stuff gives real wackos, really horrible ideas...even worse than the ones they already have planned...making this F'up world...even more F'up than it has to be!!!

I never saw the original so I'm porbably go see this, I was like woodwraith i never really got to see it even thou i wanted, and to Metalwater i sorta agree with u, makes u think its a school for wackos.... and it gives me the creeps to think of that.

Were talking about Rob Zombie and Halloween and you got to burn on Superman Returns, TKay4, sheesh when is it going to end? IT WAS WAY BETTER THAN X3. Anyway, this is probably the first Zombie movie I will go see, I haven't seen any on his movies yet, just don't care for the genre, but this sounded interesting. DID ANYONE ELSE LIKE THE REMAKE??
