A week after a new snapshot of Karl Urban as Judge Dredd made its way online, Lionsgate and Empire Magazine have come together to unleash some more glimpses into the upcoming reboot of the character. Check them out below courtesy of some fellow geeks at SHH. The 3D production stars Karl Urban, Olivia Thirlby and Lena Headey. Helmer Pete Travis is directing, based on a screenplay by Alex Garland.

Plot Concept: Based on the comic character by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra, "Dredd" takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, the lone oasis of quasi-civilization on Cursed Earth. Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) is the most feared of elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot - if necessary.

Dredd will strike 3D/2D theaters September 21, 2012.

I'm liking the look although to be fair I'm not familiar with Dredd so don't know how loyal it is to the comic. I loved Sly's Dredd but I can do with a new take.

And man that doesn't even look like  Lena Headey at all. I guess she's passed Hollywood's prime to play the hero's girl so now she's the villain.

Sorry the outfit and helmet is booty ! Sly's Dredd Still Rules. Maybe not for the story but overall look of the character. Why does hollywood love these stupid leather looking outfits. LAME !

Search your Feelings you know it to be true.

Lovin Dredd, the first try with Stallone was alright but nothing more than an action romp, not really true to the comics but a not bad popcorn flick. This looks pretty good and I can get over the missing giant shoulder pads, so I will be havin some of this!

Johnnyathm1 7/26/2011 7:59:19 AM

Lookin like this is going to stay closer to the comics...about time. Also...Judge Dredd wasnt some buff looking dude, this look is alot closer to the truth (SgtTechCom).

Like booty? I agree. Like Jessica Alba's booty, which is awesome. Leather? What else do you want them to wear? Wool? Polyester? I don't get it. Plus - don't they drive motorcycles? Last I checked motorcycles and leather go hand in hand. And how does it look like crap anyway? Because it's missing those bulky ass shoulder pads that would make them look stupid and stiff? They would make no sense in real life and be more constrictive if anything.

SgtTechCom 7/26/2011 8:21:36 AM

I got news for ya... Look at any Dredd Animation. Stay true to the look .

Yup Sorry Sly Wins. He was Dredd , just like Arnold is Conan the Barbarian.

IN Real life? LOL listen to what your saying its a comic book movie dummy ! haha

Sly wasn't that Buff in his Dredd movie btw.

LIke i said i come from the " older generation" and i enjoy the movies of the past as cheesey as they may be they were very satisfying i hate this lame " o we gotta be realistic" about everything now.  Yeah ok i'll pass.

Jokkkkkkkkkkkker here. Yes i can see where the good Sgt is coming from . Google Dredd - Images.

The Gold Shoulder pads totally rock his look. The Current outfit is rather flat compared to that.

Now if you wanna go the comic book direction - perfect example - Watchmen was perfect.

Johnnyathm1 7/26/2011 8:32:24 AM

Lol...looks like I ruffled some feathers...sorry about that. I was an avid reader of Dredd since the 1st comic hit my local "hobby" store (SFB, D&D,WH4000...etc) back in the day, So im with ya on the old school wagon. I just like this look better...plain and simple. I am, however, with ya on Arnold...Sly just wasnt a good fit for the film from the start...sorry.

Johnnyathm1 7/26/2011 8:45:11 AM

And Joker...your right about the pads...would have like to seen them come back. I was just talking about the overall stance of the Judge's...I like this look better. In the comics, you got (at least to me) a sense of this underlying fatigue that was written all over the faces of Mega City 1. I was just saying...   (=

I think I've finally figured out what I don't like about those helmets.  They simply look impractical on a person's head.  How is anyone supposed to see out of them?  The red strips block vision straight ahead, and you can forget about any peripheral vision in those things.  Why would any police force wear something as impractical as that?

Okay, I admit I'm WAY overanalyzing here, but this is one of those small details that would take me out of enjoying a movie.
