Hollywood scribes Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon(Balls of Fury, Reno911)  have confirmed to Garth Franklin that they are working on the sequel to last Christmas' smash hit, NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM. Ben Stiller and Robin Williams will also be appearing in the sequel for Fox. It was never a question of "if the sequel" was going to occur so much as "when"...The studio took in 250.8 mil here in the states and another 322.1 mil overseas. With 572.9 mil in theater grosses alone, Fox feels they have a family oriented franchise on their hands.

I enjoyed the first one. It was fun family-friendly fare. I hope the under-used Carla Gugino will also be in this one. I tend to like Thomas Lennon / Robert Ben Garrant penned scripts, but I love Reno:911 so I might be biased. Ben Stiller may be a one trick pony, but he makes enjoyable movies.

Hey, they might as well. It's not like movie's going to resemble the script after the director, actors, studios, and focus groups get through with it. Even writing it as a "family comedy", and a sequal, and with Ben Stiller and Robin Willams in mind, they're going to get maybe one line they wrote into the film.

Garant and Lennon might as well just take the money and then go do stuff that's actually good.

Hell, there isn't even really a reason to pick them specifically, when the studios just look at writers like secretaries and don't even try to nurture original voices.

Why not? You make a half billion you might as well.

Now see, I don't get this. Robert Ben Garrant and Thomas Lennon are two of the funniest writers on the planet (Reno 911), and Night at the Museum SUCKED.

I like Reno 911. That said, I thought NATM was bore. And, I caught it for free on an international flight. It was perfect to make me fall asleep. Such a disapointment considering the cast (the old timers) and the writers.

The element of NATM was cool...and for family franchises, this isn't such a bad move....the audience that's going to look at this movie is children so their parents will take them to see it....of course with the success of the 1st one...you can already see the marketing from museums all over this one when they didn't get on board for the 1st one....

I liked the first movie but I don't think it should be a franschise. Where else could these movies possibly go?

My whole family loved NATM. But I really don't think they should make a second one. Sometimes movies just don't need a sequel.
That said, I'll probably still take my kids if they do and the critics don't completely tear it a new one.

I thought "Night at the Museum" was okay. Didn't even fathom there'd be a sequel to it but ah well, I guess since it did THAT well, bound to happen.

I probably would have enjoyed the movie more if I was 12 years old. And in that sense, it is good to see more family oriented films.

My favorite aspect of the film was seeing Dick Van Dyke and Mickey Rooney back on the big screen. It was nostalgic for me and I was grateful to see them having fun with it.

I was waiting to see another movie so with time to kill I watched the first hour of NATM. All I can say is that I`m glad that I had something else to see because it was pretty dull to me. And RENO 911 is a funny ass show. I guess its more of a family oriented flick and thats who went to see it, but I for one wouldn`t see a sequel.
