More ways to save ANGEL

Online petitions and a postcard campaign look for fan support

By Patrick Sauriol     February 22, 2004

We're back with an update as to what's happening with the fan-based save ANGEL campaign and how you can add your voice to the chorus, both online and by sending snail mail to the studios.

Petition Online now has three separate campaigns going that seek the continuation of ANGEL. They are:

  • Save ANGEL the television series. This petition is addressed to The WB Television Network, and as of this writing has over 51,000 signatures.

  • ANGEL Season 6 is addressed to the show's cast and crew as well as The WB, 20th Century Fox and Mutant Enemy. To date there have been 25,000+ signatures added.

  • To: UPN TV Network was created to try and draw the attention of Paramount's television network to pick up ANGEL, as it once did when WB let BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER go. To date just over 1,000 signatures are listed.

Additionally, ANGEL cast member James Marsters has left instructions on his message forum telling fans how he thinks their voice can carry the most weight. Marsters asks that the fans wishing for a sixth season of ANGEL need to send postcards to major media outlets as well as to Turner Network Television, the station where reruns of ANGEL have been scoring solid ratings, in the possibility that TNT may decide to pick up the series. Read what Marsters has to say here, as well as to find out the mailing addresses and instructions for the postcard campaign.

Perhaps one of the most impressive shows of support to date has been the mission of Saving Angel.org. In just the space of one week the website raised enough donations to take out a full-page ad in an upcoming issue of The Hollywood Reporter and continues to receive money in the hopes of taking out more magazine or billboard ads. They are accepting donations via PayPal and promise that all monies received will go directly to advertising, with the cost of administrative/website fees coming out of the group's own pockets.

Finally, if you're still looking for ways to spread awareness and show your support you should visit Renew Angel.com. The site's easy-to-find layout lists contact information for the show's WB sponsors as well as updates on the latest efforts to save the show, and there's a message forum where you can interact with other concerned fans.
