AVENGERS Rumors Shot Down

A few days back, word on the web was that the Kree and Skrull alien races from the Marvel Universe would figure into the Avengers movie storyline.

Most doubted the rumor and now Superhero Hype has debunked it. The site checked with their sources who attribute the story to "a research error" on the part of the Albuquerque Journal, the newspaper that initially started the rumor. So don't hold your breath for the "Kree/Skrull War" storyline to play out on the big screen in 2012. Could still happen but it seems pretty unlikely.

The other Avengers rumor of the week has Disney princess Demi Lovato "up for a role" in the film. However, Heat Vision checked in with both the starlet's people and with Marvel. Both camps say there is no truth to the stories. In fact, Lovato being in rehab is sort of hampering her from talking about new movie roles with any producers right now.

Heat Visions sources do admit that Marvel is looking for another lady to break up the sausage party that is currently the cast of the film, and that may mean a Scarlet Witch, Hellcat or Wasp could appear in the film.

Christina Hendricks Would Find WONDER WOMAN "Fun" to Play

Spinoff is reporting that curvy Mad Men actress Christina Hendricks is a fan of Wonder Woman. Apparently there was some fan campaign to put her in the role, which spun into a rumor that she was somehow flirting with the role.

On Tuesday's Rachel Ray show, the host asked her about the internet talk.

"I just heard that rumor, too," Hendricks told Ray. "I don’t know where it got started, but I love it.  [...] I’ve been wanting to wear that outfit my whole life. I had Underoos — I had Wonder Woman Underoos."

Later, when asked if she would want the part in the planned TV series, Hendricks replied, "Oh, I’d love to. That would be so much fun."

So, you can add Hendricks to a long list of actresses (such as Eliza Dushku, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jennifer Aniston, etc) who have made the off-hand comment that they would like to play Wonder Woman given the chance, but otherwise have no real attachment to the role.

New X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Photos Online

Comic Book Movie have uncovered a number of new, close-up photos from the set of X-Men: First Class.

The images first appeared on Facebook page of Joe Cuzan, who seems to be working on the movie. They show a close up view of the "Crashed Blackbird" set that we've seen before.

We're not trying to start a rumor here, but the images of the blackbird crashed on a tropical beach keep making us think of Krakoa, the mutant who manifests itself as a living island and was the catalyst for the super-successful reinvention of the X-Men in the Giant Size X-Men #1. We have not other reason to believe that that storyline will come into play in First Class, mind you.

Cuzan also posted storyboards from the film.

We've captured one photo here, but click through for the rest...

When will people lear that Olivia Wilde should be WW in a  MOVIE!!!!

CaptAmerica04 12/29/2010 8:41:43 AM

Olivia Wilde as Wonder Woman?!  Are you kidding?!?!  SuperFan, I don't mean to be argumentative, but Olivia Wilde looks about as much like Wonder Woman as Christopher Mintz-Plasse looks like Superman.  Wilde has the potential to be hot, but she's a freakin' RAIL.  If she were any skinnier, she'd qualify for food aid from the United Nations.  Wonder Woman has to be played by a woman who is a little thick.  She needs curves and she needs a bit of muscle.  While I grant you that she looked good in her fight scenes in Tron: Legacy, she needs about 10lbs of muscle and 30lbs of woman added to her little frame.

Now, Christina Hendricks isn't the prettiest thing, but she certainly has the, ahem... assets to play Wonder Woman.  My GOD she has huge assets.

But I digress.  The original comment I wanted to make is that I hope they choose Wasp for Avengers.  Not only is she the original female on the team (so, for source material dedication, I prefer her), she's also a much more interesting character than Scarlet Witch or Hellcat.  Scarlet Witch's powers are too obtuse and have the potential to confuse or alienate non-comic fans (plus, we all know she's insane - even before the whole House of M thing, we're talking about a woman who ignored some of the greatest super heroes in the world to get aroused by a robot.  That's just creepy, disturbing and insane), and Hellcat is just lame.  The only thing worse to add female to the cast would be to use Jocasta.

Oliva Wilde could be a good WW. But they need someon who can BECOME Wonder Woman and not just look like her. Christina Hendricks looks like she has...the bust and looks of WW, but can she play her enough to make it believable?

gauleyboy420 12/29/2010 8:59:37 AM

Hendrix has the breast of Wonder Woman, BUT WW is more than just a pair of T#ts. She has to be in amazing shape, muscles toned, Hendrix just doesn't scream superhero to me.

Lucy Lawless had the WW package years ago, but she may be to old for the role now (although she is still hot)

Tevii 12/29/2010 9:46:04 AM

Olivia Wilde as WW... no way... not even close.... Sorry.

Erin cummings on Spartacus would be a great WW

Higgy 12/29/2010 10:53:22 AM

Hendrix almost has too much boobage to be WW.  She's hot as hell...but WW should be more athletic and yet still have a good amount of chesty goodness to pull it off.

Higgy 12/29/2010 10:56:47 AM

FYI I agree with Erin Cummings.  Almost a perfect package for WW.

BunyonSnipe 12/29/2010 11:20:32 AM

Christina Hendricks isn't tall enough WW needs to ne about 5'10" to 6'0"...

Anne Hathaway is closer to the right height, but in any case they'll have to hit the gym...

johnwhitetoledo 12/29/2010 11:24:54 AM

Christina Hendricks? COME ON. An older Power Girl Maybe.

BunyonSnipe 12/29/2010 11:28:37 AM

I also don't want to see a 20 year old Wonder Woman, she needs to be an authority figure
